Nope, just a business that got rid of a glitch!

Not a bully, but definitely a big meanie...

So I hear they killed the PVT. Seems unfair and mean. Target: desperate, impatient nursing grads. Showing off their power to make those grads pay a whole $8 to get their results like we had to do before the PVT.

So bullies?

Since when is the number of questions a sign whether you pass or not. Last I checked, you can pass or fail at with any amount..

The trick was 100% accurate at showing if a student failed/passed FOR MY SCHOOL. You were fairly 'nicer' than other commenters on this post, but I'm not sure if you read; they changed the website and this trick on this past Sunday. Until then, 100% accurate. I agree this should not have been the protocol, but it was. I did exactly what I was told to do. Not sure why my story is weird. I was sharing an experience to help other new grads. Very unsupportive community here at allnurses, honestly, I was expecting more encouragement, confidence boosting, supportive posts here. I haven't seen much of that, just bashing, on the threads I've viewed/commented. Don't worry ya'll -with the friends I've made at school I've got all the positive influence I need to start my nursing career! I'm done here!

Well, you posted your real problems on a satire thread about the very same problems you're (and bazillions of others) posting about. Did you not read the previous posts before you posted? And if you did read them, did you completely miss the satire? Satire threads aren't made to be supportive, encouraging or confidence boosting.

But hang out here for awhile before stomping off. You might meet some interesting, knowledgable posters who will tell you things you need to know, answer your questions, answer questions you never thought to ask, and yes, sometimes be supportive and encouraging.

You must be a horrible nurse to say such a mean unsupportive thing to all these young, eager, wide-eyed new nurses. :angrybird10:

Nah, I agree 100%.

was thinking something along those lines myself. :cat:

First, the only thing stopping at minimum questions indicates that you were either above or below the passing standard in all areas with a statistical significance that further questions would not change the outcome. If you were near the passing standard in any one category you would have continued on with additional questions to assess confidence. Stopping at 85 questions does not mean you passed any more than stopping at 182 questions means you passed. Number of questions completed has no statistical correlation to passing or failing.

A "anuncoventional" school "loosing" approval from the board of nursing should NOT be basing anything on the perceived validity of a registration system glitch. If they are including the NCLEX testing fees in the tuition costs perhaps they should add $8 for quick results so an accurate gauge of pass/fail can be ascertained not relying on the invalid "trick ".

They finally wised up about that trick. I always wondered why they never fixed that loop hole.

Is there some kind of award if a single poster comes up with the trifecta of irritants on AN?

* I wouldn't want you as my nurse or taking care of any of my family!

* NETY !!

*You're all just mean (and/or) I can't believe you're so unsupportive!

I was about to answer a post....then read another one, and another one, and another one (kinda like one chip, you can't stop at just one, no matter how bad it is for you, right?).

And then there was no point in responding....it was all just so absurdly perfect all by itself :speechless:

Well, seeing as people are obviously looking for the basting brushes and ketchup, getting ready to pull the rug out from under these poor new grads, and don't deserve the honor of taking care of somebody who'd completely push them over the mandated ratios of one nurse for a stadium-full of patients...:cheeky:

I see what I did thar.

And to continue in the dry sarcastic vein that I'm going for (located just medial of the "I don't give a hoot" artery), the horrors, that in this age of computers students have to wait 48 hours to get results. The horror! (Although I will admit. I found it slightly odd that my state BON updated their list at 11 PM local time. Yes, I was checking on an hourly basis. Cheaper than paying for early results and more reliable than a programming glitch.)

And I was thinking I must be stupid because I don't know from Godwin's Law.

I know 4 students that did the PVT and failed. I waited three days to see my license # appear on the TBON. the real trick was not throwing up while I waited for the results.

My issue with the PVTs.

HOW HARD IS IT TO WAIT FOR THE REAL RESULTS!!!

In all that is holy, I really want to SMH when I read the PVTs.

ps. I had to wait 10 weeks for mine.

Back in my day, we took our boards in a big room with proctors and rows and rows of wooden desks in a huge room. The tests took two days, if I recall. I had to go into the big city and stay with my cousin. The rest of my class stayed in hotels, because they didn't have relatives there.

Then we waited. I don't think I got my results for a couple of months. Those times were harsh, but we were tough. I figured I passed because, well, I studied hard, I had done well in school, I took the review course, and my school prepared us well, even though it was a lowly ADN one.

We didn't have computers in those bygone times...

I know it!! People talking about waiting 2 or 3 days - I graduated from LPN school in 91 and RN school in 91 and Both times it was a long 7 WEEKS, not days. Seemed like forever!! We took RN boards on computer but I honestly thought I would go nuts waiting that long!!

A thing of beauty, this post.

We should call it Brian's Law and see if we can get it entered into Urban Dictionary.
