So I hear they killed the PVT. Seems unfair and mean. Target: desperate, impatient nursing grads. Showing off their power to make those grads pay a whole $8 to get their results like we had to do before the PVT.

So bullies?

Well, the trick was '100% accurate' for them, before yesterday. I spoke with an instructor about the 'new trick' and she said she couldn't sleep last night because she couldn't believe that I didn't pass. Basically, she knew that the trick had changed and I confirmed it after doing the new trick and my GVN status is still posted. Also, shutting off at 85 is a good indicator the student passed. She was on 'Team Tiffany' while everyone else was looking at me like I failed :'(

I'm sure they won't be encouraging the trick anymore now, and will probably have students pay the $8 for quick results. They have been on edge since the exam 'was made harder' this year.

This seems like an oddly close relationship with an instructor.

According to them the trick has been '100% accurate'. Now a student will have to take a risk of paying the $200 again if they did in fact fail. I'm assuming my school will encourage student to wait. 48 hours and pay the $8 for quick results. I spoke with one of my instructors and explained the new trick, my GVN status still being posted, etc. and she said she couldn't sleep last night because she knew I would pass, especially after I told her I got 85 questions. I am assuming Pearson Vue is adding the risk of a student paying another fee right then so they have the money sooner, and there is now a risk involved with doing the trick.

Simmer down new test takers, I know the pressure is there, and we are all impatient, get your quick results and soon you should get that 'PASS'!!!

Excuse me?

Because the fate of our school is riding on new test takers because recently a few 'out lyers' that graduated 3+ years ago that my school hasn't been in contact with to get them to come reviews, tank the program to a now failing pass rate and they are at risk of loosing the program? Women that support their families on this income are at risk of loosing their job. It's not just about new grads passing, it's about the community and the jobs that are supporting families. It's about the people that want to make a better life for their families by going to anunconventional school because they weren't privileged or had it tough. YOU SOUND JADED. I would hate for you to be a nurse for me or a loved one. How unsupportive. I'm done wasting my time here.

If they've been riding the edge of a bad pass rate forcing the BON to close down their program, this weird story suddenly makes a little more sense.

PS they lied, the trick was never 100% accurate.

You can't fix stupid.

All rudeness aside to the people posting before me (don't forget fellow rookies, nurses eat their young), I took my NCLEX this week.

This is a satire thread. It is cheeky humor. It is sharing stories. Most posts here are a release from the utter frustration of trying to HELP students understand that this PV 'trick' is not accurate, and has never been accurate. Yet most seem to ignore our proof and go on and on about it anyway. The lack of patience we are witnessing from many new graduates in this regard is astounding. This isn't nurses eating their young, we are trying to help all of you. (see below)

My school's protocol is to go to the school directly after NCLEX and do the trick with a staff member. Yesterday I went buzzing in there, screaming that it shut off and 85, very confident that I had passed. Imagine my embarrassment as I got the CC screen.

Odd. The 'trick' is a software glitch that has never been accurate, nor an acceptable means of verification in the academic world. Was this part of your NCLEX packet? I am very curious...

If other students are having difficulty, I will give you some real advice! The trick stopped working for another student from my school on Sunday (she tested last week). The 'NEW PVT' is to put your cc card in, click submit and then you should see the message 'Our records indicate that you have already registered for this exam, another registration cannot be made at this time.' (Or something like that). There is a risk involved, you may be charged if you failed, FYI! In less than 24 hours I can pay $8 for QR, but the new trick worked for me and my GVN status is still posted! Stay strong, new grads!

It may be real advice, but it is not good advice. This is why: the trick doesn't work.

There are dozens of posts in the Student/NCLEX Forums informing students of this, but most students are not paying attention. They just keep posting the same questions over and over without reading through the dozens of active threads. The threads are like rabbits, they keep breeding.

We have had (just in the last day), one person who had a charge on their credit card account and they feared they failed based on the rumor everyone is circulating (and as you stated above) that if your CC is charged, you failed. Guess what? He passed! And now he has paid $200 he can't get back.

Another person got the so called "good" pop-up after inputting her CC number, but she later found on the true early results from PV that she failed the exam.

Yet another person input her CC number, and she had the card declined due to insufficient funds. She hasn't been informed by her board if she passed or if she failed, and she is not in a 48 hours state.

Another person input their card, was charged, and failed.

We are not trying to be mean here. The facts are facts. Just because a lot of people get the same CC page after transmitting, and subsequently were notified they passed, it doesn't mean that the "trick" was correct. It just means you were among the roughly 90% of students who passed the NCLEX. And a charge on your card doesn't mean you failed. The inaccuracy of the entire PVT is already proven.

Since you pointed out how broke nursing students usually are, don't you think it is somewhat negligent to encourage them to input their CC information when they face a serious risk of losing $200, or incurring overdraft fees on a debit card? That is way more expensive than actually paying $8 to PV and getting accurate results, checking with your BON within a day or two, or waiting a brief amount of time for FREE results in the mail.

I hope you read this. I hope some students take the advice to just accept that 'instant' results are not available, and 'trick' results are just that, tricks.

Best wishes to you!

I would hate to have a nurse that graduated from a "anunconventional" school with a poor passing rate on NCLEX. That's mean right? So was your comment to the poster.

You've posted all of nine times on this site, on two threads, all on the same topic.

You haven't even scratched the surface of a scratch on the surface of allnurses, and have nowhere near enough information to form a judgement about it.

But good luck with everything and I hope you can find a job now that you graduated and passed.
