So I hear they killed the PVT. Seems unfair and mean. Target: desperate, impatient nursing grads. Showing off their power to make those grads pay a whole $8 to get their results like we had to do before the PVT.

So bullies?

Oh, my lord!!!!!

Wooh, I laughed so hard... my body made weird noises

Then I started thinking about the avatar you made (soooo long ago) for Fomiiiiiite!!!! and I lost it even more (sorry, to those who don't what I'm talking about... You missed it!).

Man, you crack me up.

To the poster that said their school makes it a protocol. I knew a few students who had over 200 questions and passed. I know one student who had 75 and failed. He also did the PVT and said he passed. Well, he didn't. There was four total that did the PVTand it did not work. Plus, most of us wanted it to be kept private. I'd be furious if I had to go up to my school to do the "trick" with an instructor.

So I'm sitting there saying "What?" "WHAT??" and totally not understanding this. I like to think I have a pretty developed sense of humor and I did NOT get this.

And then I read Esme's link to Godwin's Law (which I didn't get the reference to initially, either) and NOW I get it.

Heavens, I thought either I or some of you had lost your minds, for a minute there!

It reminds me of the line from "Office Space" -

"You know, the Nazis had a piece of flair they made the Jews wear. Don't be a flair Nazi."

:roflmao:.....What I don't know I Google....LOL I had to Google it a while back for I had never heard of it either.

.....

I'm sure they won't be encouraging the trick anymore now, and will probably have students pay the $8 for quick results. They have been on edge since the exam 'was made harder' this year.

Pretty sure I have been reading this assertion EVERY year for the last several years.

Anyone know where this thinking comes from?

The exam was made harder? According to whom?

Oh, absolutely!! And that was about to be my next move, but I kept reading down the page in case someone either accused Wooh of being a Nazi sympathizer or explained that statement!

I do seem to remember reading something about NCSBN updating the testing format...something to do with the rubric but I don't recall the result was to make anything 'harder', but more in keeping with the standards they were testing for...? Not sure. But I don't think that it is now 'harder' to become an RN (or LPN?) than it was last year, or the year before that, or the year before....you get the idea.

Haven't you had a new grad here tell you that your NCLEX experience is irrelevant, because the tests are much harder than when I took it (1985)? This, from someone who hadn't even been conceived when I wrote NCLEX. I wanted to ask her if she'd seen a copy of my test, then I decided to just spare what little frontal lobe matter I have left after getting caught up in these circular firing squad discussions.

Oh, and FTR, I didn't even have the luxury of getting my results in the mail. I had to watch the western sky for the smoke signal. I got the hard copy of my license delivered by a carrier pigeon.

Please see my posts on how to discern which smoke signals (created from the burning of one's bra) results in a PASS or FAIL. Probably.

I *think* it's on the 8-Ball thread!
