So I hear they killed the PVT. Seems unfair and mean. Target: desperate, impatient nursing grads. Showing off their power to make those grads pay a whole $8 to get their results like we had to do before the PVT.

So bullies?

And I bet they were the worst 7 hours of your life, no doubt!

The 48 hours that I had to wait for results were absolutely the worst of my life. Much worse than my divorce. So much worse than losing family members. If only I'd had the PVT, then a true life tragedy could have been the worst moments of my life rather than waiting on test results. Why oh why does PV make people wait sooooooooooooo longggggggggg to find out if they have achieved their dreeeeeeeaaaammmmmmmmmm???????? It's not FAIRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

I was one of those who was lucky enough to use the "trick" twice. Once for LPN and once for RN and it was correct 100% of the time for me... but I didn't trust the trick as absolute proof. I also didn't stalk anyone about it either.I waited until the next morning when my state posted my license. Pass or Fail it would have been right there for the world to see. As a matter of fact a few people knew that I had passed before I did.

But tell us, did you post to allnurses asking if the trick was real? If not, you didn't fulfill all the requirements of the PVT and likely aren't actually a real nurse as you suspect that you are. It's all a dream (or nightmare, depending on how jaded you now are) if you didn't post your very own thread asking if the pop up you got was the good pop up.

I took the NCLEX-PN in Texas today, it shut off at 85. I went straight to my school after and they seemed **never mind seemed, they WERE* worried that the CC screen popped up. But my GVN status is still posed on TBON. :roflmao: The same thing happened to one of my friends that tested on Friday of last week; on Sunday the trick stopped working for her. Talk about giving someone a heart attack

Wooh,

You just made me spew Diet Coke all over my iPhone! Crud. I guess I will just have to throw it in a bag of rice for 48 hours to see if it will work.

Wait, shouldn't the minute rice trick work? I heard somewhere that if I used minute rice that I would know if my phone would work again, like, in a minute.

Does this trick work, or do I have to wait 48 hours like iPhone says?

They shouldn't put 'minute' rice on the label if it takes more than a minute. I can't stand it!

Uggggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You only have to wait 48 hours if you don't get the good pop up. You can always pay for a new iphone and if they let you buy it, then this one won't work. Unless it does work. But to be sure you need to post your own thread.

I think I got the good pop-up I mean the little white apple thing comesup and I tryed it like 347 times!! The apple thing still comes up!!!! this is good right? does that mean it is going to turn on alll the way and let me on facebook? do i need to put it back in the 1minute rice for like another minit? why do they make this so haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrd! how can they do this to us????? maybe i should try it in a different bag of minute rice and put it in the microwave for a little longer? has anyone tryed this?

The PV trick was still in effect when I took the NCLEX. It didn't matter to me. The only thing I trusted was seeing the RN next to my name on my BON, and it that happened less than 24 hours after I took the exam. I've no complaints, my step mom who is a nurse was telling me before I took my exam that she had a paper and pencil NCLEX and had to wait a month for her results. Take your exam, go out and have a fun night with friends and get your official results in the morning. The PV trick was never reliable anyways.

Try telling that to those who are positively FUMING that they are 'denied' the ability to use the legendary PVT. You know, the ones who think Pearson Vue ought to now post signs in their testing centers alerting people to the fact that they cannot, in fact, rely on said 'trick'. Like they ever could, LOL...

This all starts with the day they demand the pink sippy instead of the blue one, AND GET IT.

Oh yes, back in the olden days we went to the state capitol for 2 days of testing with paper and #2 pencils!

We then had to wait 6-8weeks to get the results! If it was a passing score, the letter was small, if you failed, they sent you a new application in a large manila envelope.

I got the thin letter!

I remember that as well. I sat for my boards on a donut because I had a baby the week before. People were throwing up in trash cans from nerves and yes we waited weeks for the results. THAT was stressful. But now we live in a society of entitlement where no one should ever have to wait, experience any kind of discomfort or be inconvenienced in any way. I just read a post in which the OP says that since she/ he failed after only 85 questions that they should be given MORE questions to give them a chance...slapping forehead! These are the nurses that are going to be caring for us in our retirement years... I am officially scared!

All rudeness aside to the people posting before me (don't forget fellow rookies, nurses eat their young), I took my NCLEX this week. My school's protocol is to go to the school directly after NCLEX and do the trick with a staff member. Yesterday I went buzzing in there, screaming that it shut off and 85, very confident that I had passed. Imagine my embarrassment as I got the CC screen. If other students are having difficulty, I will give you some real advice! The trick stopped working for another student from my school on Sunday (she tested last week). The 'NEW PVT' is to put your cc card in, click submit and then you should see the message 'Our records indicate that you have already registered for this exam, another registration cannot be made at this time.' (Or something like that). There is a risk involved, you may be charged if you failed, FYI! In less than 24 hours I can pay $8 for QR, but the new trick worked for me and my GVN status is still posted! Stay strong, new grads!

Before anyone goes dissing my school, it is a very good school. They paid my NCLEX fees, and passing on the first attempt at NCLEX earns a student a gift card for a hefty amount! I am excited to be given my next week, we all know how broke nursing students are! :snurse: ;)

I'm not dissing your school. But I am very surprised that your school had a protocol for this, and that they rely so heavily on an unofficial trick that isn't even 100% accurate and which now may end up costing students a couple hundred dollars out-of-pocket. Is the school planning to reimburse those whose credit cards are charged as a result of a false "failed" result?
