If you could no longer work as a nurse, for whatever reason, what other job or career would you choose? This is assuming that you have only ever worked as a nurse and your degree is strickly nurse related.
I havn't been able to work as a nurse shortly after graduating. I became disabled. I did receive my license, and even kept it current for 8 years simply because I love the profession. Although I was able to do a couple simple private and temporary things in order to assist an RN friend of mine.
This is one reason why I post here on AN. I love to keep in contact with nurses, and have many nurse friends. I also read journals, and other educational things. This not only keeps my mind active, but I also love to learn new things.
ok, if i were younger, i would like to be a federal agent such as atf, fbi, dea. but, since i am not- i tell everyone that my dream job is to own a laundromat. seriously.please don't judge me.
not judging, just want to know why your dream job is to own a laundromat!
i'd get my husband to retire early and we could start our circumnavigation now, writing articles for sailing magazines and travel magazines to earn a living. dh could work in a west marine or some other retail establishment to get the employee discount on sailboat parts. if we found someplace we really liked, we could tend bar or wait tables for awhile . . .
Music therapy! That's something that I hadn't though of. There is a hospice out there that uses this so completely and effectively! I've also seen it work in some rather astonishing ways with alzheimer patients. Wow, good for you that you have found not only 1 profession to love but 2! Thanks for the reply!
Yup, in high school I was pretty serious about my trumpet playing---I was in a high school summer program at Berklee College of Music for my last two years of high school. I was tossed up between applying to go to Berklee or going to nursing school. I would have been in the running for a full scholarship to Berklee if I had applied. I chose nursing school, and sadly I haven't kept up with my trumpet playing, but I'd like to start practicing again!
