  1. sbain51, I am an OR nurse too trying to become an officer in the Air Force and started this application process in February of this year and am still waiting...PM me and I'll tell you everything I know that could be helpful for you, and perhaps you know some things I do not that you could help me with too. We go through a bit different recruitment process than the other nurse specialities is what I've been told...but either way still in the same boat with the waiting and suspense of not knowing
  2. Have you asked or noticed if they are laying off more people who have their ADN? Because I heard our local hospitals here in the QC are trying to hire more RN's with their BSN.
  3. I would just talk to her & tell her how you feel, don't be afraid to, it's your grade on the line, i would be speaking up asap!:wink2:
  4. Yes, i was in California & there are so many students trying to get into the 2 year nursing programs that it really discouraged me, it didn't matter that all my pre-reqs were done, it was just that they had no spots available for who knows how long, so i moved back to illinois & am able to start right away towards my BSN
  5. What about teaching? From what i've read & heard, there is a shortage of nursing teachers
  6. I think it's just the economy we're in today & where you're located, I personally won't graduate for another couple years & will be moving to California so I'm hoping that by then there will be a lot more RN positions available for new grads
  7. I was in sort of the same boat as you, I still had pre-reqs that needed to be completed & wasn't accepted into the ADN program at a community college yet but I wanted to take them there since it was cheaper than a university. But by the time I got accepted into the nursing program at the community college I also had the option of going to a university. so i'm going to the university this fall to get my BSN at the university rather than spending the same amount of time to get a ADN at the college, good luck!
  8. i understand that completely, the family & friends would ask about nursing school & what program i'm in, well...i have to finish pre-reqs first & then I'm admitted, they just didn't understand, now i can officially say i'm going to be taking nursing classes this month!
  9. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions!
  10. How exciting! I love your post, i start aug 26th & i'm sure i'll be just as excited as well
