Just a curiosity thread:
What was your first nursing salary and when did you command what I'm sure is going to be such high salaries? LOL.
Me: 13.18/hr as an RN in San Antonio in 1993.
Ironically, I left my LPN job outside of Baltimore MD to take that job, and I was making 14.50/hr as an LPN in LTC in MD at that time.
(My first healthcare job, as a CNA in 1991: 6.20/hr.)

I just became an LPN and will start at $18/hr at a LTC facility. However, I do remeber my first CNA job in 1987 I started out at $5.93/hr!!
After graduating nursing school I requested at least $16/hr to start as LPN. That seems to be somewhat average here, some places (LTC) pay a lot higher than that.

It seems such a long time ago but it really wasn't aprox $10-11 per hour, in the early 90's.
Before I left the UK dec 05 aprox $3700 per month after tax. Here $24 per hour when I worked as an RN. On SSD now so a bit poor.

$14.00/hr in Durham, NC in 1992.
$12.50/hr in St. Petersburg, FL in 1993.
Now $29.00 in St. Petersburg. My salary has more than doubled since that time, so I'm not complaining.
Sometime in the late 90s we went to a "pay for skills" system and it marketedly jumped many salaries, but mine rose by $1.00/hr. We've had several market adjustments. Last year my salary rose by over 10%.

In 1994 I made $16 and change as an RN in LTC/Rehab. I believe that the pay went up and extra dollar an hour for the 2-3 yrs I was there.

The San Francisco RNs had work strikes during the years 1967 - 68, when the salaries in CA were about ~$400/ month.
I felt rich when I graduated later that year from nursing school and started with $700/ month, which is about $4.00/hr.

$6.59/hr as a RN new grad in 1985 (nursing home). Got a raise up to $7.10/hr after I received my license (you could work on a temp permit back then until your results came back a few months later).
With shift diff, I make over $40/hr today.
