I looked at his/her posts and saw nothing in any of them nursing-related. I figure it was some teenager who was satisfying some curiosity.

i could care less what kind of hardware or tats they're sporting

;) could be! i have tattoos myself, none of which would ever be visible when i am at work. i would never put large gauge holes in my own ears but i'd rather see people with the plugs or tunnels in rather than see the gaping, sagging holes that are there when the plugs/tunnels are out. if you've ever seen that, you might agree with me - at least on that part!

guilty... i do that too! i didn't see anything nursing related either

some people are too ignorant to realize that people don't do it for the people looking at them. what i do to myself is none of anyone's concerns and i do it for me. everyone is so focused on what they believe is right. haven't you ever heard that you agree to disagree. it doesn't matter if you have different beliefs. fighting about what is right isn't going to matter because everyone does their own thing no matter what people say (unless you're a mindless person that goes along with the crowd). its just sad to think that some people are never going to change their ignorant ways of thinking.

The hospitals, both systems, here they won't hire you with visable tatoos, gauged ears, hair color that isn't of a natural color (if it's impossible for a human to be born with it, you can't have it, ie. hot pink hair).

They just did interviews for the nursing program for Fall of 2008 here, and they interviewed a girl that had a tatoo all the way around her neck and on her fingers.

The instructor was very honest with her. She said, "If you have the grades, we cannot deny you entrance to the nursing program based on appearance...but the problem is none of the hospitals will permit you on clinical site with tatoos that cannot be covered up at all times."

We haven't heard what is going to happen yet.

I'm curious how tunnell earrings look after you take them out... If it's stretching the tissue I'd be embarassed if I had these floppy holey earlobes. No short haircuts for me!

My Dh has 0 gauge piercings. To be honest, when his are out, they look like a cats behind, lol. That is always what I think of. I definitely think it looks better with tunnels or plugs in, rather than the gapping hole.

On the topic of judging others by their appearance, I watched this last night. Amazing!

I apologize...it is true, I did not focus on the subject.

I'm embarrassed to ask and please forgive my ignorance, but what are tunneled earrings?
