Personally I don't care what you look like as long as you're a good nurse, but I think you'd find it difficult to land a job at my facility. They're just now allowing eyebrow and nostril piercings, and require tattoos to be covered. I don't think they're ready for the tunnel earrings quite yet....at least, not on clinical staff.

You may have to work a little harder to find a job, but not all managers would turn you away. I don't mind tattoos as long as they're tasteful and in moderation, but I have to be honest, I hate the tunnel look in ears. That's just my opinion, I have been known to be an old fogey when it comes to modern ideas. Good luck with your NCLEX result!

You will probably find work somewhere in L.A., since you say you work there. They tolerate much more flamboyant type appearances there I'm sure. It wouldn't be a big plus in other locales where the clientele is more conservative.

I'm in the midwest where conservatives galore reside and we are JUST NOW allowed to wear 2 whole earings in each ear which was a huge and exciting P&P change for us this year. Tats and any other "body jewlery" besides the ears are not allowed to be visable by patients. We also have to watch our necklaces and make sure they are tasteful.

Personally, I could care less what people wear as long as they are good nurses and can take care of patients.

Good luck on your NCLEX!!!!!

i used to have stretched ears (2g) but i used plugs instead of tunnels & hardly anyone ever noticed. i think if you use plugs, you'll be fine, esp since you're at a 4g. once you start getting up to 00s & bigger, plugs start getting more obvious.
