weird nurse ha.. hopefully ill pass (fingers crossed)
Well, my experience of people with extensive tatoos, big holes in their ears, etc, is that they have at one point in life taken illicit drugs, and have disdain for authority, tradition, and the opinions of their elders. I normally wouldn't mention this, but do so in order to illustrate a counter point to your post.

That's generally the small minded attitude you get from some ppl yes.
However i'm pretty certain that there must be some ppl out there who have commited crimes, taken drugs and disdain authority and elderly ppl who DON"T have any tattoos, big holes in their ears.
Live and let live. Who cares what one wears in their ears. Doesn't bother me a bit as a nurse or as a patient. Be clean, competant, and caring, that's all I ask.[/quote']I agree. Just because a person has piercings doesn't mean that they are unable do do their job correctly. I've seen a lot of people that would be considered professional looking nurses doing some pretty shaddy and illegal/irresposible things. Just because you look the part doesn't mean that you perform that part like you should. Saying that a person is unprofessional because of piercings or gauges in their ears causes the same responses when people say that nurses are sex objects or are less than Doctors.
What would you consider professional the nurse with the 4g plugs in his ear (abour the size of a pen cap) or the nurse with the too long acrylic nails painted a day glow color and the huge hoops that just scream to patients rip me out.
oh by the way guyz sorry for the texting type thing i got used to it for quick typing access :) and i also did my apologies on sirI
nahhh maybe not my daughter is kinda the rocker type thing too she will understand :) oh and btw i'm a parent who's only 28 years old so i dont look silly wearing it maybe if get old then we have an issue there :) my 2 cents...
Maybe your daughter is telling you something you need to hear? Children generally prefer that their parents aren't too outlandish in their appearance,
yup... but not that big :) oh and btw its kinda discriminating thing if a person gets turned down only by appearance
what if i got a disability on my face and looks really scary and creepy wouldn't i be hired only because of what i look like which i didnt want to happen in the first place
there is a saying...
"Dont judge the book by its cover" :)
a good looking presentable person would really look good in the outside but needs more empathy on client or maybe lazy as hell on implementing health care rather than a tattoed guy who has the skills, competent and smart with feelings/respect on the clients case and not thinking only for the money earned :)
Those tunnels are disgusting. If you did that as a nurse, I'm sure you would have trouble getting a job, don't you think? You would scare people off, esp. the elderly, IMO. Do you have the tunnels already? It was hard to understand your post.
very well said... and obviously we shouldnt wear tunnels on duty right :) plugs only just to cover it
There were a couple of nurses where I did clinicals that had gauges in their ears. I think one was a 4g and the other had 0g they usually wore plugs in but if they wore their tunnels they would put the hoop earrings through it to make it a little less obvious. No one said anything to them. I have 16 piercings in my ears and no one has ever made a negative comment about them. I just don't wear my huge hoops when I'm in the hospital. I would just go by what the employee handbook says and go with that.
