Hear about the study about the ill-effects reported in the news, even if it's diet?
I quit soda years ago. I missed it at first, then stopped missing it and forgot about it. I will occasionally have a coke if I go out for pizza. So I'm not rabid about it.
So yeah, I do think soda is really unhealthy. High fructose corn syrup is probably a driving factor behind obesity. And artificial sweeteners are probably bad news IMHO. I hear the phosphates in soda are bad for bone density as well.
Who says a life sans soda is bad? It doesn't have to be.
I've been drinking over a 6 pack of Pepsi a day - I switched to diet about 10 years ago - for 32 years. Just out of curiousity, what did this new study say?
FWIW - I have quit drinking soda on a few occassions, (3 months was the longest I lasted without it), and the caffiene headache only lasts one day. Unless, I drink iced tea. I'm sure there is probably something wrong with that, too...
:trout:to the taste of diet coke etc! When I work nights, I do have a FULL FAT COKE! Omg! :lol2:but love the taste, and the caffeine fix. Also have tons of coffee on a nightshift, and around 6am, a bottle of Lucozade, so filled with sugar, just so I can get up the energy to drive the half hour home! maybe thats why I cant sleep when I come home though!
Ok that's interesting to read. I just recently stopped drinking Coca-Cola (my number one LOVE!) and started drinking cherry Coke Zero, YUMMY!!
I hate all diet sodas, ick! So I was excited when I found cherry Coke Zero to be somewhat close to Coke. But nothing will compare to a good ole can of fully sugar loaded Coca Cola!!
Yanno, I recently cut way back on my Diet Coke habit, only because I got tired of the expense and because my stomach likes me better when I don't have one every day.
Now that the food police are after diet-soda drinkers, however, I may just go back to it. Nothing makes me want a thing more than being told it's "bad" for me by people who evidently get no enjoyment out of life, and don't want anyone else to either. All those health nuts are going to feel pretty silly decades from now, lying in hospitals dying of NOTHING.........
I love Coca-Cola, I love it! I love that sharp, sweet taste as it hits the back of my throat and I love the way it makes my food taste better and me feel more alive. I am actually addicted to it.
And I hate it. I hate needing it. I hate the way I feel when I open the fridge and it isn't there. And the more I drink, the more I want it. I hate that feeling. I also hate the way it makes my belly fat. So I quit drinking it. I will indulge every now and then(1 or 2x a month) but that's it. No more liter a day of Coke for me. Ya'll enjoy..

I drink a lot more than that! It's diet which helped me lose weight and as long as I'm at a healthy weight and get some exercise and eat reasonably well, I refuse to give it up.
