Anyone here drink a can of soda a day?

Hear about the study about the ill-effects reported in the news, even if it's diet?

I think everyone here has already said they believe soda to be an addiction.

I love Coca-Cola but I don't drink it every day. I have one every once in a while and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

You go outside and breathe in the pollution from cars, etc and that'll give you cancer ..... you can go on all day about things that cause cancer.

I don't smoke, but if someone wants to smoke or drink soda, then by all means I don't care ...... what people do on their time off from work is THEIR business, not mine.

It is.

Am I the only one who sees drinking 2 or more liters of soda a day as an addiction? I believe soda to be one of the main culprits of diabetes & cancer in our society.

I never could understand health care professionals choosing unhealthy lifestyles for themselves(ie-smoking, drinking etc.) yet commit their lives to saving lives of others.

I think addiction is too big a word for drinking something with caffeine and sugar.

I do think taking in too many calories of any sort and not getting any exercise is one of the causes of diabetes.

Cancer is too broad a category - there are so many kinds that there isn't just one cause. There is also a genetic component to contend with.

My preferred caffeine intake is coffee. I usually only have a diet drink when I go out to eat.

We have Mt. Shasta bottled water with fluoride delivered to our home. We drink only orange juice as lots of juices are pure sugar, especially apple juice. My family drinks a lot of milk but I buy 1% for them and I get nonfat for me.

Moderation is the key.

Okay, I will admit it: I AM ADDICTED!!!

I love my Dr. Pepper, and if I have to have a vice, this is it! We are all gonna die someday, might as well be happy with how we live.

I'm another who loves their soda. I grew up on Diet Pepsi and Diet Coke, my dad will only drink diet so that's all we ever had. I've been a diet soda drinker for...20 years (I'm 27), no diabetes and I'm on the skinny side. I have good pretty good teeth too, not stained, I get cavities once in a while but I think that's more the fact that my teeth are kind of crowded and I don't floss. :p

How much I drink depends on the day. Some days I just have one to stay awake on the night shift (I don't like coffee). Some days I throw back 3 or 4 cans. The rest of my diet is pretty good. I try to get in my fruits and veggies. I take a multi vitamin with calcium. I work out with both cardio and weights. Every once and I while I satisfy my craving for a Whopper and fries.

I kinda think that the obesity/diabetes problem is partly due to lack of knowledge about healthy eating. There are people who honestly think that Taco Bell is "healthy" because it has "lettuce and tomatoes." Another factor is that nutritious food tends to be more expensive. McDonald's has a dollar menu, you could feed your family with a few bucks. How much would it take to make a meal with fresh veggies, meats and whole grains? How much more convnient are the processed, packaged foods?

I also do not like the taste of regular/full sugar soda. Too sweet. I do drink tea sweetened with stevia. At the moment it's the go to "natural" sweetener but I'm sure someone will find something wrong with it. ;)

Trust me, someone with a few less than perfect habits is a lot better at talking with patients about lifestyle than someone who is perfect. We are all works in progress.

Plus, I work with sick babies. None of them are going to have soda anytime soon;)

there is a coke with splenda, too, if you scared of the aspartame. It's called Coca Cola Zero and if you like Pepsi, it's Pepsi One

Actually, Coke zero has a belnd of aspartame and Ace-K. The splenda version is aptly named "Diet Coke with Splenda."

I have been a Coca-Cola addict since I was a kid. My mother seriously put it in my baby bottle after I could walk. I was raised drinking Coke at meals.

I have had to switch to diet in the last two years for health reasons. Drink a can a day? Oh, PUH- LEEZE!! More like 6 or 8 cans per day. For over 40+ years.

Now I drink more water per MD threat of death. But I still start my morning with a Coke.

Hi, my name's Karo and I'm a coke-aholic. :DHowever, I doubt I am giving them up at this stage of the game. Everything always gives you cancer or kills you or whatever. Who knows, in a few years, maybe diet coke will be good for you too!!! (Like chocolate and red wine!!).:yeah::D

nobody's taking away my diet coke ! :smokin:

I drink about 6+ cans of diet coke a day. It has to be Diet Coke, too. If I don't I get headaches and stomach aches. I actually think that I drink so much soda that my stomach has reduced acid production and if I don't drink the diet coke i don't digest things properly.
