What do you wear to work as a school nurse?

I looked through the last 10 pages of posts and key word searched the forum but did not see much on the subject of what most school nurses wear. Do you wear scrubs, lab coat, business casual, or something else? I was just hired into a middle/high school position and they said I could wear scrubs, but didn't give much direction. What do you find is most appropriate?

I wear business casual most days, occasionally I will wear solid color scrub pants with a tshirt, on Fridays we wear jeans. I don't particularly like scrub tops, I do like the pants, that's why I wear them some days. I would rather blend in with the faculty here and our special ed department wears scrubs, so I like wearing the business casual better.

I wear scrubs but I am toying with the idea of wearing some casual clothes every once in a while. Scrubs are comfy but they are so dang hot, and since Old Man Weather thinks it is still summer, I am about to melt in these blasted, non-breathing scrubs lol

Scrubs most days because it is the easiest. Lots of school spirit T's and every Wednesday I wear my pink "My Son-My Hero-Air Force" T! Side note : a couple of our teachers have started wearing scrubs this year...yes I'm a little irritated and childish in my mind about it

My principal would freak if a teacher wore scrubs!

Business casual, and some days...way more casual than others. BUT, when it gets cold, I love to layer under my scrubs. You know, gotta keep up the "nursey" image.

I wear business casual with comfortable shoes because I do very little hands-on care with the students. I have 2 full time Health Aides that do the first aid and medication administration. I occasionally get very excited when I need to listen to lung sounds or look in ears. :roflmao: I spend the vast majority of my time attending super exciting meetings (sarcasm), doing case management and evaluations to help determine if students are eligible for special education services.

I wear scrubs everyday, though it is not required for us. I was just thinking this morning I don't know how others do it, dressing up to go to work every day!

I was asked when I started to wear scrubs at least half the first year so that the staff and students would know I was the nurse. I wear pretty much whatever I want, dressing up when I have time and wearing scrubs and a messy bun the other four days a week. I have been wearing my scrub pants with other shirts lately to mix it up. I refuse to wear heels and don't think I could get away with flip flops.

Hello guys! So any color of scrub to wear as school nurse is fine? Not exactly a white scrub? Because i saw at the tailoring shop they have a white color scrub. Thanks!

Now that I have a T1D student and am checking BG all day long, giving injections, etc. I have started to only wear scrub pants and our school uniform t-shirt.

Wear what you're happy and comfortable and professional in. If you go with a white jacket, please make sure it's clean though....sorry I have to say that.... I started wearing scrubs six years ago when I started because I look like I could be a teacher. This year I have ventured into wearing jeans and spirit shirt on the days that's allowed, but I find I miss the pockets in my scrub pants.

I wear scrubs because it's cheaper than my "real people" clothes & things come out of them (vomit, etc.) much easier than regular clothes!!

I wear scrubs and tennis shoes because they are just way more comfortable than dress clothes. I'm constantly running around and getting down on the floor or the ground to help someone. I enjoy having pockets to put all of my keys and phone. It just makes more sense!
