  1. This! I remember once in clinicals, on a brand-spankin-new baby I had to use the nurse's pediatric stethoscope to listen to a pulse. I was freaking out inside because I couldn't hear ANYTHING! Turns out, I had them in my ears the wrong way as Ali has stated. I haven't' done that mistake again!

uniformcity.com ! They are cheaper than scrub boutiques in my area and they are always having sales and discount codes are always available to use!
  3. If I had the chance to live at home at 21, not work, and focus on nursing school I'd snatch up the opportunity in a second! Working to support yourself(full time) all while going through school(full time) will be a huge burden. You are still young, and you will still be young when you finish school. Stay at home and focus on school, you are so lucky to have that opportunity!
  4. High school student came in wanting to be excused because she bit her fingernail too short!
  5. ...Tacky to wear your scrubs in public? What? I work in a school office with little to no contact with students. I run errands after work regularly, because it's easy and convenient on my way home. The thought never crossed my mind that I could be making have a wave of nausea.”
  6. I've had a student come in several times this year to get his ears checked because he is convinced that a spider-beetle hybrid crawled in while he was sleeping.
  7. Hello! I will answer this is best I can, and will answer it assuming you are talking about State employment and not Federal, since the two are often confused. 1. Yes! They hire new grads. 2. Call back time depends if there is an open position, what the end of the filing date is (last date to turn in an application,) and how many applicants. Scores from the skills assessment test (mandatory assessment to be completed before applying) are considered too, the higher the better. (depends on how much experience you have, being a new grad you will not have much experience, meaning a lower score.) 3. In my experience those classes won't make a huge difference, your skills assessment score will matter more. 4. Since you posted this on the 18th I'm assuming you have already made that drive. Hope this helps! Dept. of Veterans Affairs was the best organization I've ever worked for, good luck to you!
  8. I wear scrubs everyday, though it is not required for us. I was just thinking this morning I don't know how others do it, dressing up to go to work every day!
  9. Had a student come in the office the other day because he walked into a spider web. Really.
