  1. Thank you for your insight @NedRN. I have background experience working in an office so I do understand the business aspect, politics, and wearing different hats of it all but my frustration with their processes clouded my judgment and forgot that not everyone truly grasps medical terminology or just the operational aspect of it. I’m also blunt & straightforward as I’ve been a nurse for a while, I also forget not everyone has thick skin. It saddened me that I got an email that they deactivated my profile (to which I’m aware means blacklisted) just because I was too honest and spoke my mind, again, frustrated. That was my first time experiencing that. LOL. Keep in mind, I did not do anything to harm a patient or the company name, just hurt some feelings. It was just another reminder that healthcare has never and will never want nurses that advocate for themselves, there will always be retaliation. I was with another large agency too and I was leaning on AMN more in that moment but the universe gave the answers for me. I’m truly passionate when it comes to patient care, I’ve been in the field since 17! Grew up with a medical family too & it just broke my heart how instead of them seeing that passion, it was the opposite. Again, thank you for your time. I appreciate you!
  2. Hello, I've been traveling for a year now and have worked with another agency. A friend recommended AMN/Nurse Finders. Does anyone else have such an unpleasant experience? They are so unresponsive but when you do hear from them, they're literally so rude. I got passed the credentialing process but it was hell. Not sure if the staff are nurses but you can barely get by with your legit documents because they go by the wording of the documents that should match their own words and not the actual content of it.
  3. KEEP GOING! Keep changing your study habits around and ask for help when needed. When I had my test anxiety I invested and enrolled in a 12-week NCLEX review class. Mind you, it's not cheap but passing on first try was worth it. Good luck and please never give up!
  4. Don't feel bad because we're all humans and humans make mistakes, even the most perfect ones have flaws. Last week I was called in to work one location of the company I work for as an LVN, got there 30 minutes early and wondered why my charge nurse didn't show up to open the surgery center with me, when she's usually punctual then I texted her- come to find out she had told me to work the other location an hour and a half away. I completely misunderstood what she communicated to me, MY error. I apologized to everyone involved for my mistake then busted my ass to the other location to which I was 2 hours late for because of morning rush hour traffic. Things happen, it's life.
  5. I apologize for not wanting to post my whole life story for everyone to see because first of all my question ended with any helpful suggestions for scholarships or grants not FAFSA information, financial information, or personal information. The other posters didn't have a problem with answering without knowing my life story. Thank you and have a good day! Thank you for your help and response.
  6. TheCommuter Thank you this was useful. I will look into this.
  7. Sour Lemon, RN Thank you for saying that. Yes, I understand this as well but I wasn't asking for free money without working for it. That's why the question was if there are any GRANTS or SCHOLARSHIPS I can apply to. It was a simple question because I was desperate. If there was an answer then yay but if there wasn't any then a simple "none" could've sufficed. Everybody got all judgmental off the bat without even understanding the whole thing.
  8. @verene THANK YOU. Finally, someone that makes sense and understands. I took your advice and dropped 6 units and just paid for what I could which are 2 classes. No, I am sending money because I need to and if I don't my dad doesn't get insulin or can't go to his dialysis appointments. Everyone on this website needs to get off their high horse, not everyone is from a 1st world country and had everything spoon-fed. Thank you again.
  9. @Atl-Murse, BSN I'm not an entitled human being, sorry. I have strong family values. Delete your useless comment. Don't need it.
  10. @NightNerd Yes, the only benefit I have with them is I live here rent-free because I tried moving out and with high costs in CA for rent I was putting myself through LVN school full time and juggling 2 full time jobs. It almost took my life cause I fell asleep driving and had a huge car accident. Unlike some people, I don't have the luxury to just stop sending money to my country. It is a need, not a want.
  11. @ meanmaryjean, DNP, RN Sweetie, this was just a general story of my situation. I send money to my dying father in my country for his medical bills and I am independent. I pay for everything and I work 3 jobs right now. Unless you can be more compassionate and understand what I'm asking I don't appreciate judgmental comments.
  12. 22 year old self-sufficient LVN here currently living with my parents that have a gross annual income of between 90k-100k per year but the thing is THEY DON'T PROVIDE FOR ME FINANCIALLY. I have a huge strained relationship with them and they have never supported me, it took my mental and emotional health to even just obtain a LVN diploma. The only reason living with them has worked out is because all of us work 2-3 full time jobs and never see each other. So I'm planning on going back to a local CC this Spring 2017 and to feed my already suckish life, financial aid took a 2 second look at my FAFSA student aid report and denied me of anything to offer to help pay for classes because of my parents-on-paper's income. I don't make a lot as a LVN and 80% of my paycheck is sent to my country. About to give up in my BSN-RN dreams unless any of y'all can suggest a grant or scholarship that can give me real hope? Appreciate it.
  13. @JustBeachyNurse OH MY GOSH. The 2nd paragraph you said made so much sense and literally blew my mind. I wish I asked the allnurses family before I submitted it, I just hope I can still turn it around with my financial aid rep at school. 3
  14. So even if I graduated LVN "college" it is not considered to be so since it is a vocational school, right? No wonder I got denied of all grants or anything at all, I received my FAFSA report yesterday. I am to attend a community college this Spring 2017 and got denied of anything. I went to my new school today and they told me not change anything and wait until it shows up on their end and we can correct it together. I am so confused about it, I didn't grow up here in the US and never had to deal with this. I hope I can still correct it all. Thank you everyone!!!
  15. Hello everyone, I graduated LVN school last April 2016 and I currently hold my license and I work as an LVN in 2 facilities. I'm planning on going back to school but community college for my general ed pre requisites to eventually transfer for a LVN-BSN bridge program 2 years from now. What would you say is my educational attainment/title as of right now? Never attended college / 1st yr. Attended college before / 1st yr. 2nd yr. / sophomore 3rd yr. / junior 4th yr. / senior 5th yr. / other undergraduate 1st yr. graduate / professional Continuing graduate / professional or beyond I was leaning on to 1st yr grad / professional but not entirely sure since I only have a LVN diploma and not a degree.
