Just curious what different hospitals, clinics, organizations etc are giving their staff over the holidays this year. As a nurse I've never gotten more than a couple hundred bucks as a Christmas bonus but it's always appreciated when employers give a little extra. What are you getting this year? Cash? Coffee mug? Please share!
I have both Xmas and New Year's off! That's enough bonus for me!
I wouldn't even mind working those shifts - I work 12 hour nights and my family won't see me those daytimes anyway (he said while snoring :)
If I work xmas eve, I can be up with them for a few hours on xmas day before going to sleep. If I work xmas itself, I will be awake and with them for xmas evening dinner before being off to work. Its enough :)
Coworkers get together and pot luck it several times during the holidays. Some families participate if they want....usually bringing in cookies will soften us up enough to share. One of the docs has a Christmas party at his house.
I've worked with and without the big meal and bonuses. It's not the fringe benefits that make the job, it's the people you work with. No point in a free meal when you can't leave to enjoy it.
Well we all even i can't say nothing for a bonus. I thought about this and thought about this and our nothing is really something. I know sound confusing but let me explain. How much do you make an hour? Don't tell me.. Now how much do you make if you had to work Christmas? Don't tell me... So for everyone who doesn't get a bonus... Your pay if not working Christmas or your time in a half pay if your working Christmas is your bonus.. Get it ? And they say i can't be or think positive... That some positive thinking if you ask me.. Because really any other day if you were off you wouldn't get paid.. These are my thoughts use them as you wish.... Or you can just say Karma and shut yourself up
Bonus? Are you joking? We are permitted to have a potluck. We bring the food, they let us use a corner of the cafeteria and we may partake over our nonexistent lunch break.
No, we do not get time and a half for working. Holiday pay is an extra $2/hour and only applies to people working the DAY shift on the holiday. Night shifters don't get anything.

Nothing generally.
One place actually gave us tacky ornaments when the Hospital's name engraved on it. Like we were really going to put it on our trees.
