When do you start school ( date)? Are you planning to buy anything that could help you in nursing school, if so, what? I just want to buy a voice recorder.
Fall semster starts August 25th. I am not looking forward to it---I need more vacation time.
Check this out and see if you can get the school to give out the information. They are absolutely not allowed to do what you are describing!!! However, my school is still "bundling" our books and making it difficult. Good luck!

I'll be starting August 23rd! So far I've bought my stethoscope, most of my books, a planner and a few other school supplies (paper, pens, pencils, post it's...) I want to start getting ready and buy more but our school has only given us a textbook list. I have orientation on the 11th so hopefully then we'll get a list of supplies we need :)

Thanks, good info. I wonder how many schools are actually going to follow this new law. It seems as though my school isnt following it cause the book list hasnt been released and the fact sheet says book lists should be dispersed when we register for our classes. And, well, registration has passed and there's still no book list:mad:
They posted a list of all the books we need with the edition and ISBN # about a month ago and I've been buying my textbooks ever since. The nursing bundle we have to buy cost $420 in the bookstore and I found all 5 books in the bundle online and alltogether it's only $185, I'm saving tons of money!
My BSN program starts August 30th and I can't wait! I've gotten almost everything I need including scrubs, stethoscope (Light Blue & Fairy Ultrascope!:redbeathe), shoes (black Danskos), huge planner, etc. I haven't bought my books yet since they just started releasing that info yesterday. I'm definitely going to compare the prices on Amazon though because I am all about saving the $$$.
Orientation can't come fast enough!!!
Good luck to everyone!
"My first day will be on August 23. I plan on getting an ipod touch."
I just got an Ipod Touch for school. It is so cool!! Lots of free medical apps. Also, one of my books to buy for school was Taber's Medical Dictionary. Inside it was a code for the app for a year free. The app was 49.99!
August 23, 0830.
So far, I've gotten all but one book, and I'm just waiting to find out if I can use the older edition of that because I got one for free at paperbookswap.com
I got four HUGE binders
several of my favorite mechanical pencils (Dr Grip, awesome!)
my scrubs and lab coat, and I busted out the sewing machine to put the patches on
some post-it flags for marking things
two of my books have come back from the printer with their shiny new spiral binding and I am in luuuurve
All I really need to do now is find out about the book, find shoes, and buy my equipment. I want to test out stethoscopes so I'm hitting the uniform store soon. I'm up to date on all my vaccs and my Mantoux, got my physical out of the way months ago, and have a shiny new HTC Incredible that I've already loaded a bunch of apps to. I'm looking at one of those rolling cases that you can sit on when you're tired from lugging a bunch of crap around.
I start on August 23rd, exactly 30 days from now! Already bought all new binders and office supplies, and I took the plunge and upgraded my phone to a Droid (partly due to suggestions from this site! ). Still have to buy my uniform, shoes, stethoscope, bandage scissors, and a host of other things. So much to do, so little time.

I completely understand. I just graduated from Michigan State and ourbook list was always published months in advance and there were literally tons of bookstores inside and outside of campus, so we were able to "shop around" for the best price. Our instructors encouraged us to look inline as well and buy cheaper or even rent our books.
But the nursing program that I'll be attending next month is at a really small school (300 students) and the school is strictly a nursing school. The book list hasnt been published yet, and it never will. We were told to go to the book store of the local university in the area and they would have a section in the store where we could find the books for our school. So basically I cant even look online to get the names/ISBN numbers for my books, I have to go to the book store and write down all the names and ISBN numbers. This isnt a problem for many students at the school, but its a big one for me since I live 6 hours away and in a completely different state. Why must they make everything so difficult? LOL
