What date do you start Nursing school?

When do you start school ( date)? Are you planning to buy anything that could help you in nursing school, if so, what? I just want to buy a voice recorder.

Fall semster starts August 25th. I am not looking forward to it---I need more vacation time.

Starting my ABSN program August 23! Very excited! :yeah:

I have bought my stethoscope, a good sturdy backpack, my *required* Dove Apparel scrubs, white-out, sticky note pointers, sharpies, highlighters, TONS of notecards, a Saunders NCLEX review book, a big binder...

Still planning on getting a mini laptop, Nursemates for clinical, black clicky pens, a planner, dividers, a storage clipboard, calculator, mini notebooks, a watch with a second-hand that clips onto your scrubs, laundry supplies (detergent, hydrogen peroxide for blood stains, hairspray for ink stains), and a haircut! lol :lol2:

I don't know that it counts as a school supply but yesterday in the mail I received my first nurse related thing! One of my best friends I met while doing the WDWCP (Walt Disney World College Program) sent me a little nurse Minnie Mouse figurine. It made me cry and get even more excited!

My orientation isn't until August 19th. (I was also accepted to an LPN program and their orientation was in June but they didn't start until August.) My acceptance packet for the BSN program didn't have a handbook or a list of supplies or anything. Just what we needed to do as far as proof of immunizations & TB skin tests & CPR certification and the insurance we have to take out on ourselves. I guess we'll cover it in orientation? I'm feeling sort of uncertain now!

Is it possible to find nursing books on amazon? I always buy them "new" not that I have the money but because I am scared of ordering the wrong edition/ wrong book and also I am afraid that they won't have CDs
Sure is! I bought all my nursing books for this upcoming semester on Amazon. They have new and used.

My ABSN program starts August 24th. I bought my scrubs, white shoes, books, and a netbook. I'm waiting for the "back to school" sales to start up so I can stock up on highlighters, clicky pens, notebooks, binders, etc. I'm excited to start my program as well, but reality hit me in the face yesterday. I logged onto my online site for my fall classes and noticed that we have a bunch of reading to do before our first day. Ugh. And so it begins... I need more summer. :cool:

August is definately coming up fast! I am taking summer classes and will get a two week break before my nursing classes start on August 23rd. I am so excited but nervous at the same time. KWIM? I am hopefully pretty much prepared..I have boughten all your typical supplies like notebooks, binders, pencils, pens,etc, purchased my uniforms, shoes, watch, stethoscope, B/P instruments, etc. I also bought me a nice new comfy desk chair from Staples. I figured I probably will be spending a lot of time in it so I might as well get a comfy one. lol. I am just needing my books now and will probably not be able to get them until a few days before school starts when they release the book vouchers from financial aid. :crying2: It kinda sucks, one of my instructors already sent us an email letting us know about clinicals and labs along with a change in the schedule on the first day and HOMEWORK for the first day of class. I am supposed to read 7 chapters... :eek: I don't think that is going to happen if I don't get my books until a few days before class. Have any of you had your instructors emailed you?? Orientation is August 19th so I am sure we will be getting more assigments and expectations given to us.

I go for orientation on August third. I'm really excited, but also really nervous. I know I'm about to be stressed to the core.

Well, my start date is on August 23rd. And so far Im really nervous/excited!

Technically, I havent bought anything yet. But I did order two uniforms for clinicals and I also completed all of my requirements (CPR/BLS, drug test, background check, fingerprinting, turned in all required paper work, etc). Oh, I did buy an iTouch a few months back, I guess you could say that I bought it for the program;)

But things that I REALLY want to buy are my books (the book list hasnt been released yet), a huge calendar to put on my wall and write assignments/due dates on, a really good printer (like the kind that can be found in a library), a hole puncher, and I still need to get my all white shoes for clinicals as well as nursing supplies (stethoscope, bp cuff, etc) when the school tells us everything we'll need.

"Back to School" sales have already started. Check out WalMart and Kmart for sure. I've been getting a lot of ads in the mail lately that are loaded with good school supplies for sale!

Yeah, I saw some stores started. I bought my highlighters at Office Max, but they didn't really have anything else that I was looking for on sale. (I'm VERY picky about my pens and notebooks!). I know the sales really get going come August, so I'll be flipping through the ads weekly. :)

I have orientation on August 31st and I start classes September 1st. I'm pretty excited but a longer vacation is always nice, I bought a flashdrive so I could work on papers at home and at school and I would always have it with me. I also bought a small portable planner so I could write my assignments and test dates in it while I was at school and I have a big desk calendar so I could have a planner from home and I will highlight the most important date. I obviously bought the normal supplies such as notebooks to take notes in, folders to hold my papers, pens, pencils, white out, etc.

Seriously though, our books aren't in yet. I am not buying from Amazon as you have to be careful as to what is needed and some cost more through them. This was discussed in another post as well. If you need say fundamentals book and mylab that is more on Amazon. Read the comments on Amaon as well. I decided to wait for the school's books. My orientation is Aug. 17th a week prior to class begins so maybe assignments of reading at that time. I think I am pretty well set except have to get my books.

Why, you don't take notes? If I didn't take any notes I would probably get F- in all of my classes lol.
