What can I do to increase my chances of being hired in Couplet Care as a new grad?
I'm a tech on a L&D/PP unit. I was able to be hired as a tech after my first semester of my BSN program. As for getting the job, patience & good references! I did clinicals on the same floor (prior to working there) and fell in love. My instructor said the best way to get a job on the floor was to be a tech....foot in the door sort of deal. Sounds like with your passion, dedication & enthusiasm you are well on your way! All the best to you!

L&D NA/PCA What do I need to know?
I see this is over a month old now. Just curious how things are going & what your job responsibilities ended up being. I'm a PCT on a L&D/PP unit. :)

2nd day of clinicals & I feel like an idiot...help me gain some confidence!
I had issues with the needle on a novolog insulin pen in clinical! Felt like such an idiot, but it's all a part of learning and growing your skill set & confidence! Don't let it shake you, you've got this! Good luck! Time, patience & an open mind!!

What was your first speechless moment?
It may be expected, but witnessing a birth during clinical. Speechless and teary eyed. :)

Hesi Test
Get a HESI or NCLEX book and study study study. Then when you're ready to throw the book through the window, take a break & study some more Remember to take breaks though and good luck! I just finished my first year. Two HESI's down. You can do it!

most amazing thing
I'm not sure about everyone else but OR is part of our first rotation. I'm in my Sophomore(first year) year, 2nd semester of BSN program. This semester is our first doing clinical rotations. We do half OB & half med-surg. We have 2 OR days scheduled, one in each half. I think our program does an amazing job of geting us experience.

most amazing thing
It may be an expected reply but I was honored and humbled to witness a birth during clinicals. It was the single most amazing thing I've ever seen. Myself & a fellow Nursing student got to be in the room & we both teared up & grabbed at each others arm. It was a beautiful, amazing moment I will never ever forget or take for granted. I didn't stop smiling all day. So incredible. One minute a pregnant belly & the next a precious new life, taking first breath, crying that miraculous cry.

What date do you start Nursing school?
You are on top of it! My orientation isn't until August 19th. (I was also accepted to an LPN program and their orientation was in June but they didn't start until August.) My acceptance packet for the BSN program didn't have a handbook or a list of supplies or anything. Just what we needed to do as far as proof of immunizations & TB skin tests & CPR certification and the insurance we have to take out on ourselves. I guess we'll cover it in orientation? I'm feeling sort of uncertain now!

What date do you start Nursing school?
I don't know that it counts as a school supply but yesterday in the mail I received my first nurse related thing! One of my best friends I met while doing the WDWCP (Walt Disney World College Program) sent me a little nurse Minnie Mouse figurine. It made me cry and get even more excited!

What date do you start Nursing school?
Yay! I'm so excited for everyone! I start on August 23rd! I'm excited but completely unprepared as far as supplies and whatnot! I started looking up books and prices last night and making lists of supplies I'll need. My head is spinning!! I'm excited and nervous and totally overwhelmed with everything...in a good way! (mostly...haha) At this very moment I'm googling around for a good backpack. My Mom, who is a Nurse, really wants me to get a rolling backpack. I really don't. I can see the benefits but it just seems like asking for trouble from my clumsy self!

MGCCC-JD or USM?
Thank you for your reply :) Ultimately I want my BSN. MGCCC only offers the ADN. I think I've decided to just go for USM. I don't know where the rationale in going for the degree that's not my final goal is. I thought about just getting that and then getting out into the field and doing an RN-BSN program but if I can get it all in one shot, then it seems that's the best choice. :) Sorry for all the rambling! Between moving and transferring schools and everything else it feels like my head's in a million different places!

MGCCC-JD or USM?
Hello all! I recently moved here from Arkansas with my family. I come bearing way too many credits from my other college for my own good thanks to a midstream change in major! Anyway. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any insight into either the MGCCC-JD or USM-Coast Nursing programs. I have been accepted to USM (not the program) and put in my application at MGCCC. I live extremely close, actually right across the street, from MGCCC so it seems that would be the natural choice. Not that there's any assurance I would get into (my current cumulative GPA is 3.43) their Nursing program or USM's for that matter. The more time I have to think about it though, I just don't know anymore! I have so many credit hours from ASU that it seems like USM would be the smarter choice. Where do you do your clinicals at in the programs? Do you get more clinical time with USM? Are there any benefits one has over the other? Financially MGCCC is better but USM (from what I can tell) isn't terribly expensive, is it? Sorry for the long ramble! I'm so confused and overwhelmed right now! I was so certain before and now I'm not at all. Thank you all so much for any help! :) I truly appreciate it.
