What date do you start Nursing school?

When do you start school ( date)? Are you planning to buy anything that could help you in nursing school, if so, what? I just want to buy a voice recorder.

Fall semster starts August 25th. I am not looking forward to it---I need more vacation time.

I start with Nursing school orientation on 9/7 with our Drug calc class to follow right after.

I'm so nervous/excited!

September 24th! I feel like I've been out of school way too long. I don't like taking summers off.

First homework sheet, you say? We had about 30 pages of sheets to do!

Yup...first. It was a packet, 3 or 4 pages long and about 50 pages of reading. We didn't get it until Thursday last week I think, at our orientation. We have 3 or 4 more assignments that are due tomorrow...and then one or two for Wednesday, and the same for Thursday...and at least that many for next Monday.

i just don't know what to expect yet...

we had our orientation a long time ago though, but it seems like there's still some other things i'm unclear about....

To those people who had started already, did u guys do another orientation on the first day of class?? like did they explain more things about the program, like what to do, what to have and stuff?

We had our orientation last week -- Wednesday and Thursday, and started class today...so there was no need to do another orientation since everything was still fresh! We just jumped right in since the syllabi and everything were covered during orientation.

I had my first real class meeting today and I am incredibly aggravated. Our instructors are very disorganized and that only adds to the confusion. We sat in "class" for four hours and it was really just a bs session. We basically just sat there and shot the breeze for 6 hours.

From what I can glean so far, we will basically be teaching ourselves. It would be safe to say I'm p****d.

I start on the 30th of August. However, I already have access to the syllabus for a couple of classes. I will probably start reading towards the end of this week and this weekend to get a jump start. Good luck to everyone :).

I'm curious. Is that "text" singular??

Well, no, I have other books, but I wasn't done shopping yet, and all the other books are things like drug guides and a Taber's and stuff like that. I'm only actually taking one class because I already took pretty much everything except Nursing 1-4, so I don't have a ton of required books. The only other book that I would really consider a text book is the nursing dosage book I had to buy, and that hasn't arrived yet.

Reading back through some of these replies...I never thought about the insurance as a student nurse. I guess ours must be covered in our exorbitant lab fee (something like $325, which doesn't buy our equipment or anything like that- I had to buy it myself) because we weren't required to pay for it separately. Then again, I never had to buy it as a CNA, either- must have been paid by my employer.
