  1. i'm also in the same position as you, we are only on our 6 weeks...and so far i don't think doing the clinicals is the thing for me...and u know what, my mom said the same thing to me that that's not all we do as a nurse, we don't just change the linen, get the bed pan, and talk to the patients...so i guess i'll give it more time since we're only on our first semester, i'm really looking forward for peds though, coz i can see myself just working in the nursery with the babies..but i don't know coz i don't wanna waste my time if i really don't like nursing...so i'm really confused. >. need some advice too.
  2. this scared me..... working in that place must have take alot of courage... like ur dealing with criminals who are murderers and insane people! i don't think i would ever want to work in a place like this... i dread our psyc sem. although it's much better than this....lol
  3. OMG! that just scared the crap out of me! waaa..... this stories is giving me goosebumps.. but i like reading it..lol
  4. HI! omg, i feel ya about the "cliques" thing.. it's sad coz i also didn't know anyone in this private nursing school, but most of them seems to have been classmates when they took the pre-reqs. subjects...so they already have groups...and i'm kinda shy to "butt in" there...and they don't seem to be friendly to others who are not in their "cliques" that was on our orientation though... i'm just starting this monday! and i hope throughout the program i'll be able to atleast have one friend... coz it's hard to go through nursing alone...
  5. Hi Sorry if this question is really weird or random..lol I'm just curious, what bags do u guys bring to school? Do u bring tote bag, backpack or rolling ones? I'm starting next week, and i dunno what kind of bag to get yet. Any suggestions? Also, do u guys bring ur books? leave it on lockers? or just don't bring it at all? thanks
  6. omg, i can relate to u so much! lol i'm also worried about making friends in nursing school.. i do not know anyone there, it's the first time i've seen them. We had our orientation already, and i felt like i wouldn't make any close friends amongst them. I just didn't feel any connections with anyone and they mostly formed "groups" already...and i don't wanna be the person to "butt in"... >. Well, i have a different interest than u though, and it will sound "unfamiliar" to most people here in the U.S. but i'm really into "kpop" it's Korean music industry, i love korean drama, movies and especially kpop. which is korean pop. so yeah.. i mean, i can't really give u advice sorry...lol coz we're on the same boat. and i'm also shy and quiet when i first meet a person, but if i become comfortable enough with u, i can be really talkative too. So I guess maybe just try to be more friendly to everyone, ur only going to be with them for 2 years anyways, so i'm sure u'll meet new friends that u can really relate to when u graduate :)
  7. start next week! 30th! i just don't know what to expect yet... we had our orientation a long time ago though, but it seems like there's still some other things i'm unclear about.... To those people who had started already, did u guys do another orientation on the first day of class?? like did they explain more things about the program, like what to do, what to have and stuff?
  8. A Car! I dunno what type yet though... i don't really have knowledge when it comes to choosing cars...lol i just like whatever attracts my eye, and i think i like the mini cooper that has red and white color in it! don't know what model it is... or maybe a sports car in red!
  9. lol it will be kinda weird... and most guys in our class are in their late 30's...i'm the youngest i would say, and they seem to be married already. so yeah.
  10. hi guys! i'm starting on Aug. 30th! I'm excited and nervous too.... still finishing up my readings and practicing some skills needed prior to the first day of class... >.> If anyone here has any tips like study tips and whatnot, please share? hehe thanks! goodluck to everyone else who are starting this sem!
  11. I'll be starting on Aug. 30th! I dunno if i'm still excited though...lol coz I've been reading and watching skills we need to learn since last month...there's alooot! i still need to read more, got a bit lazy and stopped for a few weeks...lol i realize i really need to keep up, what more if i'm in the program already right? i think i need more motivation... Anyways, i've already bought all the books needed except one that isn't available yet. and i also bought, index cards, uniforms, Big Calendar planner for my desk, pens, paper, one notebook (coz i don't know how many i will need yet)...also, i think voice recorder is a must! i had 90's in my A.P coz of this... and before classes starts i will be buying Binders, different colored pens, those tab bookmarks? the one the u stick...lol whatever they are called... so yeah! i just can't wait to start already! got nothing to do this summer...so i just really wanna get it on with school!
  12. I dunno how to word a better title for this thread, sorry... So i was wondering, what do u guys have each semester? for example, In my school they will have it like this: 1st semester- Fundamentals 2nd - Med-surg 3rd - Psych 4th - Pedia and Oby I'm just curious, coz i often read that most schools have their med-surg during 3rd semester, and we will already have it on the 2nd....isn't it odd? or do u guys also have it on that sem? btw, i haven't start school yet, we will have our first day on August 30! I'm excited and nervous at the same time, hope i'll survive! coz i heard how hard it is...:chair:
  13. here's an advice from the book i read. "You should never put off until tomorrow what you can do today!" I'm a procastinator too, but it's because i feel either: the assignment i have to do is too boring, I can do it later, I can do it tomorrow, i don't know where to start... those were some of the signs why you might procrastinate... Just remember, "Time is essence" You are the only one who can waste your own time. Oh, and remember this words as well: "I can" "I want" "I will" U can even write them down in an index card then paste them in your environment where u can see them often especially when u study. Just think that this homeworks, projects, paper works are the steps u have to take in order to graduate in Nursing school. Stay motivated by saying to urself "I love Nursing! i can do this! and i will finish this!" so yeah. goodluck! ^^
  14. wow....this just made me feel down and more unsure with nursing now. i already know that there's so many nursing students..so many people taking up this major. but from where i am now, i don't think i can still back up. i've waited for so long to get into this program... taken so many pre-reqs, now i'm starting this august 30. i guess i'll just see what happens in the future, i'm sure there's always something good instored for everyone.. :) so future nurses, don't give up and stay positive. u might not get hired, but i'm sure there are other jobs out there that u can do even when ur a nursing graduate.
