When do you start school ( date)? Are you planning to buy anything that could help you in nursing school, if so, what? I just want to buy a voice recorder.
Fall semster starts August 25th. I am not looking forward to it---I need more vacation time.
September 7th and I can't wait. I feel like vacation has been too long! I got out of school May 4th. I spent most of my summer just doing the required stuff, background check, drug test, going to the doctor 60 million times for this ONE health form and then getting my CPR. I'm going to buy my kit (with all the clinica stuff needed) next week, I have the OSHA madatories class next week and sometime in August I'm gonna order my books from amazon. Word of advice if you're nervous about editions and what not. Get the official nursing books list with ISBN numbers so you know you're ordering the exact same book. I'm not bringing the laptop, I can't concentrate and I like to write things out other than type.
The closer it gets the more anxious I get. SIGH! Orientation isn't even until Sept 1st, I feel like I'm going crazy!
I start on August 16th! I'm really excited, but by the sounds of your replies I feel a little behind lol. So far i bought Saunders NCLEX review book and my Stethoscope is on the way. Other then that I have been focusing on the 'paper' side (making sure i have all immunizations, physical, CPR cert, and TB test). I get the results of my TB test on Monday and after that I can focus on the supplies. I really wish i knew the books I need so I can get started on that. I feel like my school pressures us to only get things from their bookstore (what school doesn't) for example our first day the schedule says from 12pm-1pm Bookstore--books, packets, and supplies. Is anyone else's school like this? I know that they have to provide the IBSN numbers by Registration. Registration is on AUG 12th and I just don't feel like there's a lot of time to shop around. Anyway, sorry if I'm rambling. Congrats to all of you!
Why, you don't take notes? If I didn't take any notes I would probably get F- in all of my classes lol.
That is why in my next note I wrote "seriously though" but it probably was read as how can my books not be in. I think us nursing students will boost up back to school sales as I probably don't have near enough notebooks. Sorry about the bad joke as I always loved those people who would say I didn't study when they got a test back. Really? You just automatically know cranial nerves, muscles, etc. without ever reading or looking at anything.....uh huh? I believe you.

Fortunately, and surprisingly, my school/instructors are not forcing us to buy from the school bookstores (there are several, large university). Our instructors posted the ISBNs about a month ago, and have encouraged us to look online. Amazon saved me tons of money.
is it possible to find nursing books on amazon? i always buy them "new" not that i have the money but because i am scared of ordering the wrong edition/ wrong book and also i am afraid that they won't have cds
absolutely!!! i buy all my nursing books from amazon. i only buy new textbooks and i make sure they tell me in the description that the cd is included if applicable. just use the isbn number to make sure you're getting the right book/right edition and so on.

I guess I was just spoiled by my first college experience. I could register well in advance and professors posted books and it linked to the school bookstore so I could compare. Now I'll be attending a tiny school where there is only one day to register (not even a full week before class) and I actually have to go up to school to do so (I live an hour away). I'm excited about my program I have heard amazing things about it which is why I chose it over the adn program 20 min away, but this is a bit frustrating.
