  1. Our school has a strict no personal electronics policy for class and clinical. I'm pretty bummed out because i wanted to use my iPod touch for clinicanls.
  2. We have an all white uniform. They are not particular about the brand but it must be white and plain. Straight leg pants (no flair), v neck tunic (no buttons, ribbons, etc), white shoes (no open heal style), lab coat, we can wear a scrub jacket if we want. All tops need to have our patch on left hand sleeve. I just bought my uniform yesterday and I hate it. Ugh.
  3. Thanks! That's my iPad actually (but I can use it as a photo frame). Thanks for the tip I'll be sure to try it next time.
  4. This is my study area and the other side of the room has a Tread Climber for my workout area. (Dumb question: how do you guys make your pics big and in the text?)
  5. I think it would be best to go straight for the BSN. If you can't do that go for the ADN and if can't do that go for LPN. Aim for the highest level that you can do first it will save you time and money in the long run.
  6. My commute is about an hour away and I have to cross state lines lol. Weather wise there's not much going on except for rain.
  7. Ahh I just bought my saunders nclex book. Oh well. I am about to start nursing school on Aug 16th so I'm kinda bummed, but I'll still use mine to study during school.
  8. I had an A in A&P 1 and 2 and in micro (90 pts) and a 97 on the compass reading. I only know one other person who got in and she had more points than me. I applied last semester with 147 points. I actually retook my compass reading test and improved it 10 points then had micro to pull me up to my current score. What classes do you have left?
  9. I got in with a 187 for this fall 2010.
  10. I want to say that your school requires it because the hospitals do.
  11. Ultimately you should do what feels right. I was in a similar situation. I was living on my own and I loved it. When I decided to go to nursing school I made the difficult decision to move back in with my parents. I did not want to deal with the stress of having to work as much as I did, and taking out loans to help pay for it was not something I wanted to do (I'm still paying off my student loan from my first degree). I'm 24 (25 next month) and yes there are times that feel like a giant loser, but it was the best decision for me. I consider myself fortunate that my parents live in the area and actually let me move back. I don't have to worry about bills (except for my storage unit for all of my apartment stuff that i miss). I don't have to work making is easier to focus on school. I even got convinced them to let me take over my brothers old room and tun it into my study area. We compromised and they put a new treadmill in it, but thats is also another benefit. I miss being on my own and being independent, but I just look at it as a two year sacrifice that helps me reach my goals.
  12. my school is pretty far away and my health department does not do them. Overall, i'm happy with my decision. I feel like I saved money.
  13. Just an update I decided to go ahead and order my test online. I used privatemdlabs.com it was $49.49, but i found a coupon code for 15% off (XB49W8) and the total came to $42.07. I went to the lab today and got my blood drawn and I should get the results in a couple of days.
  14. Has ordered a blood test online? I need a varicella titer and have called around trying to find a place to get it done. Most places will do it with a physicians order. I no longer have insurance and am on a budget. I saw that you can order the test online then go to the local lab its affiliated with to get the blood drawn and the results will be emailed to you. There are several sites that do this and the cost ranges from $42-$50. Has anyone done this before? What are you thoughts? The more I looked into it the more I think its something I will do, but I have doubts. Thanks!
  15. So far no homework and doubt that we will have any reading assignments before class (we start on the 16th registration is on the 12th-but who knows). But I am curious what type of programs you guys are in? maybe there's a correlation between program length and early assignments lol. I'm about to start a 5 semester ADN program.
