Hi, I couldn't find much info on this so I'm making this post. Has anyone gone through WGU's Health Information Management program? I looked through the Program Guidebook but I want to know personal experiences about the program. I'm interested in IT and wonder if it's worth going through the program or if I should just get the BSN. Thanks.

Does the actual fingerprint card have to be sent to BON? The application says to do that, but I had to register with Cogent for fingerprinting and the instructions say to send the card to Cogent, which doesn't make sense because the hard copy is supposed to go to BON.

Thanks! I don't want the process to be any longer than it has to be! Is the fingerprint form FD-258? I'm going to call my local FBI and see if they do fingerprinting and if they utilize that same form.

bumping! Where is everyone getting their fingerprints done?

I made some phone calls today and learned that police departments don't do fingerprinting for the public in my city, even though I found a list of local police departments that supposedly did. I was told by an officer that it wasn't good financially or timewise to do fingerprinting. He referred me to a retired officer who does fingerprinting. I didn't feel right about going that route. So I went back on the California BONs website and reread the applications instructions again regarding fingerprinting. It seems like live scan is an option to anyone anywhere in the states that has access to Live Scan. I'll just go the live scan route and see happens after I submit them.

So I'm ready to send in my application for endorsement but I'm so puzzled by the fingerprint process. Live scan is available in Pennsylvania, but on the website it says anyone from out-of-state has to use the fingerprint card, which takes a long time to process! I requested fingerprint cards to be sent to me, but who knows how long it'll take to get them! I guess in the meantime I'll just request my transcripts and send paperwork to the PA BOB just to get the ball rolling until this finger print stuff is taken care of!

I've been keeping up with what's been going on with the AHS and things look very grim. There seems to be a lot of home health positions but I haven't heard any good things about that either (low pay, high case loads, no mileage reimbursement). Any IENs have any luck finding ANY job? Nursing or non-nursing?

I'm getting confused. Nurses are being laid off, new nurses are unable to find employment and nursing assistants are taking over in Alberta. However, nurses in New Brunswick are heading over to Alberta for employment? Alberta jobs attracting New Brunswick nurses | Globalnews.ca This is disturbing on so many levels. I was going to make my move to Edmonton in late December, but since the job market is so tight, I will have to change my plans. It seems like a waste of money to renew my LPN license.

I wish I had thought of that before. . .I left Edmonton last Monday. I've ordered the study guide already.

I know there is a prep guide, but I've read on previous threads that the prep guide is not useful. Is that still true? Also, is the NCLEX-PN an appropriate study guide? Is it equivalent to he CPNRE? I still have my Saunders Comprehensive Review for RNs that I studied from to pass the NCLEX . Would it still be a helpful resource to prepare me for CPNRE? Thanks!

I'm in Edmonton right now. Im visiting my fiance. The weather is pretty similar to the weather at home but a little more intense. We don't get this much snow at home. The pot holes have been horrible here as well. I would like to visit Calgary one day as it seems more vibrant than Edmonton. Edmonton is okay but I feel sorry for anyone who has never left to visit places outside of Edmonton .

I'm an RN in the United States and I'll be sitting for the CPNRE in May. I don't have a bachelors in nursing to practice as an RN in Canada, so I'm aiming to be an LPN. If I do pass this exam, my concerns will then be to find employment as well as obtain a visa. Until that happens, I will stay in the U.S. until I can find an opportunity to work in Alberta.
