Valid Reasons To Not Get Vaccinated

Whether you're in support of the COVID vaccine, against it,  or on the fence please use this particular thread to cite credible, evidence-based sources to share with everyone so we can engage in a discussion that revolves around LEARNING.  

I'll start:

The primary concerns I've shared with others have to do with how effective the vaccine is for those who have already been infected.  I've reviewed studies and reports in that regard.  There are medical professionals I've listened to that, in my personal opinion,  don't offer a definitive answer.

Can you explain why critical thinkers would look at those numbers and think vaccines were not effective? Lets use your numbers and evaluate: 

Two trains each carrying 1,000 people collide. Train A has no seatbelts and 597 of 1,000 die. Train B has seatbelts and 250 die. Are seatbelts ineffective because 250 people still died? Or did they save 347 lives? 

Because achieving a high rate of herd immunity through natural infection is unthinkable.

To use your train analogy how many people were traveling by train that year and how many died in train wrecks?  You did the train  both trains also have the same type of wreck?

I wasn't directing my "nah" at YOU but rather at the people who can't bet out of the wet paper bag because they can't follow the logic of a viral disease.  It's just not that hard and my patience is not as generous as yours.  Sorry you misinterpreted it as personal to you - my bad in not being clear.  Your posts are always thoughtful.  I have a relative who has become a nutcase Trumper and anti-vaxer.  I can be polite but I'd just rather not communicate unless I have to with her.  Fortunately, we do not live in the same city.  She is highly educated but prefers the logic of Scott Atlas.  This if hard for the rest of the family and no one is in a particularly forgiving mood at the moment.

I don't think it's an issue of not being aware of this sort of anti-vax rhetoric that is misleading or just simply false.

The Postal Service for instance falls under the employer mandate, not the federal worker mandate.  OSHA has the ability to set mandates for workplace safety, but most of this only applies to businesses with over 100 employees, Congress is a separate branch of government from the Executive branch, and isn't subject to executive orders.  

You're using false information to suggest that it's been decided it's not important that everyone get vaccinated, that's the problem.

All the "reasons" given for not being vaccinated are illogical and/or false. We shouldn't be be looking at whatever excuses they have for refusing to get vaccinated.  Doing so gives their excuses undeserved legitimacy.

    They had their chance,  we should disallow them a platform to spread their illogical disinformation at every opportunity. 

    At this late date nothing I say can drive anyone away from being vaccinated.  All that's left are the very stupid and you cant fix stupid. 

      My goal shifted from convincing people to get vaccinated,  to now doing what I can to deplatform them and their wack job excuses and keeping them from positions of responsibility.

Exactly.  Think of the millions that were going to get vaccinated, who changed their minds after the mandate.  OK millions might be a stretch.  But, my brother in law told me about his cousin who based his decision on that.

It is a tough competition, but you have finally come up with the least valid reason not to get vaccinated.

It makes sense to me, but still doesn't excuse NOT vaccinating for others.

The entire country is traveling by train. If you are unvaccinated right now your chance of that train crashing is 6 times higher and the chance of you dying in a train crash is 12 times higher.

One of my sons and I had both Moderna vaccines; got my booster yesterday.  He's been heavily influenced by you tube videos and face book feeds lately. "You have an agenda Mom just want me to get Moderna booster" --- "read this article re spike proteins entering nucleus decreasing DNA damage repair".   Replied, I've had an agenda for 30+ years to keep him alive and healthy.

Emailed CDC info re mRNA Covid vaccine spike protein not entering cell nucleus..    "I'll get J+J vaccine instead."   Told him to talk with PCP for best advice due to his chronic health issue.   Still awaiting brother getting vaccine so I can visit him, at least bro's blood sugars WNL with new DM med regime. Focusing on decreasing my chance getting Covid;  adults in my family need to be responsible for their choices.
