The dreaded rolling backpack...

I'm starting nursing school in August. I bought the "ultimate nursing bag" which is a great little back except that it only has one strap. I know the future holds several sore neck muscles and shoulders. And most bags that go on your back with two straps aren't big enough to hold everything that we need to. I'm considering the.......

ROLLING BACKPACK :nono:

Any thoughts?

You won't think it's so dreaded when you have to carry 5 large textbooks on your back! That is what's dreaded! Most everyone in my class has one, it is a nessescity when there are so many books, and there are many you can find that are quite cute. :)

Does anyone have a rolly backpack from LL Bean? I was thinking of buying one from there because all the other things I've gotten have been great but no experience with backpacks. They are kind of expensive ~$70 but if it holds up really well it will be worth it.

Thanks!

;) Jessica

It's got a metal frame I can sit on, and huge wheels that light up as they spin.

Suh-Weet! You ever take it off any sweet jumps? Can I upgrade to spinners and rims?...seriously, i think ill get one, thanks for the info

Here is a link to the ZUCA back pack that was mentioned earlier - It may be too pricey. I hope I don't get in trouble for posting the site :trout:

WOW..that is the craziest bag I have ever seen!

:lol2:

Does it come with remote control...?? LOL

I look at it this way...I'm almost twice the age of most of my future classmates...not even concerned about what they think.

Lecture class would have been useless without my books ...... we had to have our books in front of us to follow along with the lecture. All classes are different though, so definitely wait and see how it's going to be.

Sorry for the double-post.

I totally agree with you. I have to get the visual. I learned very quickly that if you take your books and mark things as you go along...it's very good preparation for test questions.

I don't like carrying things when I don't have to. So if I'm going to look like a geek, I went all the way and got a Zuca rolling bag. It's got a metal frame I can sit on, and huge wheels that light up as they spin. For what I paid for it, it should last the whole course.

Those are cute but expensive. My daughter is a figure skater and all her friends have them. The cheaper part, the fabric part is replaceable/interchangeable if it gets worn or you get sick of the color. The chair comes in handy when you need a quick rest!

Ok...I am DEFINITELY a rolling backpack fan!!

After 2 week of hauling a ton of books in a tote, I got tired of neck and back pains, red marks on my skin, and huffing and puffing up stairs! Other than my children, nobody has made fun of my bag on wheels though I could care a less. I love it!

on a construction note: My first rolly had no support between the wheels. As a result, the weight of my books caused the wheels to spread outward. I bought a new one with a solid bottom and it's been heavenly!!

I would also say that you should wait and see what you load will require because I separate my BIG HUGE LECTURE NOTES BINDER into smaller test sections and just carry that section ( no need for text all of the time) with highlighters, pens etc. I don't see the point in carrying a roller if you don't really need it.

Personally, I have no use for a rolling backpack. Maybe I'll regret this statement later, but as of this moment I don't think so.

My classes are in ONE classroom in ONE building which is steps away from the parking lot. I don't see myself taking every one of the $1,000 worth of books back and forth to classes. This is my situation and know everyone isn't as fortunate.

I have a deluxe book bag from llbean and it works perfectly well. For me, it's about saving money in areas I can and this is one of them.

Good luck to everyone!:balloons:

Same here.

When I get the power point presentation or whatever lecture notes they give, I punch holes in it and put it in a carboard folder with those metal fastener thingies in it. That is all I take to class. I make notes on the power point presentation as we go along. Once we test over the material I add that to a big binder that I keep all my lecture material in.

That's it.

I think I took a book to class once when the professore said "bring your books to class." The next time she said it, I didn't bring my book but just jotted down the pages in question that we went over in class, then looked at those pages later when I got home. I think that happened twice all year.

I never understood why my classmates brought all their books. I never did and never needed them.
