I just graduated from the Drexel accelerated program; I have my previous degree in Chemistry and my master's is also in chem. I did my senior practice in the ICU and got a very good rec from my prof. I thought my interview went really well and everything so I was kind of surprised. I wonder who they did take??

Hello everyone, I just graduated in March and was offered a job in a LTC/sub-acute rehab facility about 45 mins from my house. I accepted of course, and am looking forward to starting my nursing career next week. I was hired to full time 3-11 shift, but will be doing part of my orientation on 7-3 at first. I was hoping for some advice from experienced nurses about some of all of the following questions: 1. My schedule is 40 hrs/week and every other weekend. How should I try to structure my days/sleeping patterns to adjust to this? 2. Can you give me a sort of timeline I can try to shoot for once I'm on my own for what things should be done in the 3-11 time frame? 3. ANy suggestions for making the switch to these hours easier? 4. Any particular nursing things I need to be aware of in this time frame? I know people will have dinner and be going to bed, but I will also be responsible for approx. 30 residents with 3 CNAs during this time. 5. Anything else you think would be very useful to know as a new grad? Thank you so much! I'm excited to finally be able to use my nursing skills!

I'm coming from out of state so I would appreciate any help you could give about where to stay in relation to the airport or downtown, and anything else I might need to know. Thanks!

I just got my acceptance letter for Spring 08 in the mail today!!! I am so excited!!! I'm also worried about finances since I'm single and supporting myself but hoping that I can get a job afterwards with loan forgiveness. I'm just so excited! I wish I knew what books we will need I want to get them and start looking stuff over! And I'm looking forward to getting to know the other people in our class! Jessica

Hello, I am applying to a nursing program in Seattle to begin fall 2007. One of the people I asked to write me a letter of rec. filled out the qunatative part ( i.e. rank this applicant on a scale of 1-5 in several categories) but asked me to write the qualatative part. I am excited because I have a chance to write a really good letter for myself but don't know what to say without sounding too obvious or anything. Any tips? Thanks, Jessica

hello, I am still finishing up my prerecs and deciding where to apply in Seattle. I read on the SCCC website that each fall they accept 30 people first come first served with a gpa over 2.5 in the required classes. Then they are placed on the program ready list. So i have some questions. I contacted the nursing advisor and she seemed really vague. Do people just camp out for like 3 days before the set date to ensure they are within 30 places? Once on the program ready list, is there waiting or do you start right away? It seems odd that they would accept someone with far lower grades just because they were in line first, but if this is the case I guess I would be prepared to camp out for a place. Thanks for any help or insight you can give me. I am also looking into the lpn program at north seattle, the adn at shoreline and possible programs at seattle university. I could use all the help I can get if anyone has more advice. Thanks, Jessica

I am new here and taking AP II this semester as well as developmental psych and nutrition. I took AP I spring semester and it was kind of a joke. Our class was just straight memorizing and labeling pictures and the labs were pretty much look at a prepared slide, draw pictures of what you see and answer a few questions. I wish I had dissections like some of you, at least you learn something that way. It was so frustrating taking AP I that I am doing II online. We still have to go in 4 saturdays for the lab component/exams but atleast it won't be every week like before. I really hope it gets better! I'm looking forward to getting to know people! I'm hoping to apply to nursing schools in seattle for fall 07. I have micro left to take. Jessica
