If you caught The View yesterday, you saw Joy Behar ask of Miss Colorado (Miss America contestant) and nurse, "Why does she have a doctor's stethoscope around her neck?"

I think they should spend ONE WEEK in nursing school (or working as a bedside nurse for that matter) and then maybe they'll get an accurate depiction of what nurses actually do. Maybe then they'll be able to come up with a halfway decent apology.

What bothers me most is that she is probably representative of what the average citizen thinks of an RN's skill and knowledge.

Exactly! She represents an "old school" mentality that holds nursing as a position of servitude (to the docs and the pts) with no skill or foundational knowledge whatsoever. Gross!

The View: a show run by women, for women, where we dedicate segments of our show to making fun of and scrutinising women.

Definitely not for *all* women. I've never understood fully what that show was intended to be about. It's been on forever and I just don't get it. It's all "cluck cluck cluck" and what not and it's just ---- ugh. No. There is nothing elevating to be found here.

They issued an "apology", if you can even call it that. They should have just said sorry and ended it at that. Instead, I think that they made it worse by trying to justify their statements.

Even if they do apologize (which I highly doubt), it would be a coerced apology, lacking in authenticity, and then people will say "Heeeyy wait a minute, that wasn't a real apology! We want a REAL apology!" like some obstinate child.

Notice how they spent time justifying their words, making excuses and saying things like, "I'm used to seeing them in gowns and bathing suits." Joy came CLOSE to an apology when she said that her words were inattentive and stupid, but NO ONE actually said "I'm sorry"

I have to share my 26 year old daughter's thought when I told her about this. I'll admit the apple doesn't fall far the tree. :)

Those women on the view are the worst kind of humans on the planet. All they do is tear (decent) people apart and gossip about it. I'd love to meet one of those bougie, cackling hens in person and give them a piece of my my mind.

(I had to ask my daughter about the word bougie - it means: "Aspiring to be a higher class than one is. Derived from bourgeois meaning middle/upper class. It's like the term yuppy... But worse. It's the rich, entitled, narcissistic *orifice* holes for the most part. It is slang, though.")

The "apology" sounded extremely patronizing. I did not get the impression than any lesson had been learned.

It wasn't even an apology to me. It was a "you guys weren't listening to what we were saying".

It was all nurse blaming and damage control because what Michelle Collins said in the first segment was slander.

There will never be an apology.

The worst part and what angered me again, was how they put their spin on it. Collins had a complete change of heart declaring her admiration for nurses but never mentioning Kelly Johnson. The take my money comment was odd.

Behar said " well you're at their mercy. " Raven was claiming "did they even listen?" in a condescending tone and then we had whoopi Goldberg angrily schooling nurses for not listening. That was totally reheorificed.

The view removed the segment of them ridiculing Kelly Johnson from the youtube channel of course.
