If you caught The View yesterday, you saw Joy Behar ask of Miss Colorado (Miss America contestant) and nurse, "Why does she have a doctor's stethoscope around her neck?"
Our friends at Gomer Blog couldn't resist.
Littmann to Produce Separate Doctor and Nurse Stethoscopes Thanks to The View†| GomerBlog
I think I'll order one custom-made with assless chaps. :)
'Raving Syndrome', patting at her hair and lifting a shoulder, said ,while making a dismissive facial expression, "I mean, Did they even listen?" That was, as far as I could tell, the sum total of her contribution to The Apology.
Joyce Behar admitted SHE didn't listen. And I can't believe Whoopie saying we didn't listen.
Heck, we are TRAINED to listen, with and without a stethoscope ; they all were, I guess, just trained to talk: Blah-de-bla-bla-blah.
I don't like The View because they are all talking over each other, getting louder and louderr all the time. Quack-quack-quack-QUACK!
Every so often I have a PD pt. who watches The View and I am very circumspect, holding my lips closed while my head is exploding.
Sadly their thinking is what so many think. They don't realize nurses are often the first to pick up on a problem with a patient. They think nurses are just there to do what someone tells them.
I am retired now but have a lot of respect for nurses who are still in there taking care of everyone.
I stopped watching this show years ago because the "ladies" are so nasty to anyone who doesn't think like them.
I so want this to happen.
I so want this to happen.
Someone would probably code, and they wouldn't know how to do CPR.
All jokes aside, I feel bad that Behar is taking the heat of the comments. At least she admitted her own ignorance. The other women, however, were more insulting and condescending in yesterday's video. I'm glad to see so many great corporations/companies/etc. showing their support for nurses.

I was just thinking this. Joy is getting all the heat when the rest of the women said rude things as well.
I have to say that the most offensive thing I've heard about nurses was from a doctor... I believe he was a resident at the time. This was years ago, happened at our church, and before I even began nursing school (was contemplating it at the time). This fool actually said to me, and I still remember this, years later, "Nurses don't ask why, they do as they are told, for example if a nurse is told to fill a cup half-way, she won't ask why, she'll just do it".
I was speechless, my eyes got wider, but i didn't say anything to him.
I wanted to shake Raven. I have zero respect for her after all of this.
I don't know, the other day I made a rather flippant comment that Raven may just have resting b**** face, and after watching that clip, I think that is the case.
She was sitting quietly, I didn't see any eye-rolling, sighing, etc. She did do a few slight head nods in agreement, I'm thinking the weight of her hair makes her hold her head immobile, so she doesn't tip over?
Joy Behar actually acquitted herself well. That apology was more natural than the one from the day before.
I didn't see the whole show (I generally only see bits and pieces in patient rooms anyway), but what I wondered was, where was Whoopi Goldberg?
Does this absolve them from making stupid comments? No. But they ALWAYS make stupid comments, this one simply struck a nerve with a very large group. Should they be fired? Again, no. They're doing what they are paid to do. When people get tired of them and stop watching, the show will be cancelled.
I for one am getting weary of all the "sturm und drang" about this. I'm starting to skip right over the threads pertaining to it. They're sounding too "social media".
