If you caught The View yesterday, you saw Joy Behar ask of Miss Colorado (Miss America contestant) and nurse, "Why does she have a doctor's stethoscope around her neck?"

They issued an "apology", if you can even call it that. They should have just said sorry and ended it at that. Instead, I think that they made it worse by trying to justify their statements.

That was NOT an apology. They spent the entire time defending themselves only. It was the equivalent to someone saying "some of my best friends are black".

Hence, the quotation marks. Excuses, excuses was all I heard. The situation has escalated even further now. Although I wish these nurses and nursing students would be more tactful in their complaints and stop making death threats or threatening to provide biased care if they ever had them as a patient. Two wrongs do NOT make a right.

Now I have some of the worst humor ever. I don't take offense to much. I love Daniel Tosh and Family Guy for the comedy and horrible (and at times offensive) humor.

I didn't feel they were saying it in a comedic way. I think they still don't get the point that nursing IS a talent. She prepared a monologue that displayed her TALENT of nursing.

Anyway I figure that is the best we will get. I never watched them anyway and don't know of anyone who did.

simply put, that was an ok letter. I do think she could have mentioned how us nurses anticipate the doctors, know what meds to give, when to give it, and how much to give. Thanks to us for keeping patients alive during first year residency. That deserves an entire discussion. Joy Behar (or however you spell her name) is shamelessly promoting herself and the show. She knows what will generate buzz, so everyone stop giving her any credibility and allowing the discussion to continue. Let her be and move it along. You can't fix stupid, as the saying goes.

Fellow colleges why so upset? I would'nt expect a comedian who's sole focus is hair, makeup, wardrobe and reading kindergarten level cue cards from a teleprompter to know the difference between a sphygmomanometer and a monkeys behind! Second thought maybe I should give her the benefit of doubt she's had a long carreer in entertainment, she would most likely be able to correctly identify an ******* !

So now all of a sudden she just thought Miss CO came out in scrubs for ***** & giggles? If she was gonna do that I would assume it would be in some skimpy nurses costume & then some dance routine. No one apologized. They just dug holes for themselves.

No offense to any fans, but I don't know how anyone with two functioning brain cells can actually tune in and listen to those women.
