Hope my Texas colleagues have enough PPE!

Thus article was published in April early in the epidemic and things have changed. Please site a source from June.

Any statistical studies undertaken during an unprecedented event of lockdown, closure of businesses, and social distancing cannot control for independent variables and is junk science.

In this instance older studies from similar, but different pandemics, hold more weight.

Are you kidding me? They are still trying to figure the difference between aerosol and droplet transmission. Despite what we have discovered, there's still plenty to learn. Old studies are based on old premises and therefore can't be cited after we have made further discoveries about the subject being introduced.

With this particular organism well...yes.

Oh so they were mouthing off with grave authority on "no masks needed" despite no evidence?

So basically they were behaving in the exact same way you're accusing me of behaving, right? And yet you trust them and not me?

No, the article written by doctoral experts in their field points out that mask mandates are pointless unless everyone straps into an N-95 which will never happen.

Im advocating that what is currently occurring is the reality we should embrace, because there is not a thing we can do about it. Accepting reality instead of grasping at how we wish things had unfolded is a more healthy perspective to take. The young have protested and flocked to beaches, casting the die where it may. There is no turning back now. It’s beating against the wind.

There are a multitude of refutations of that thinking about masks and the evidence in other countries appears to contradict it. I refuse to simply give up rather than to attempt to change the behavior of a minority of the population. There is too much at stake.

They were following the best evidence they had at the time. Now they know better so we are doing better. Which is very UNLIKE you.

Uh, when did I accuse you of behaving in any way?

How could they have evidence? It was, at the time, a novel virus newly arrived to our country.

As @Wuzzie here just said, the virus is novel and there is no evidence they had at the time. They were flat-out lying to the public to preserve PPE for the healthcare community. They do not respect the public. They only treat members of the public as pawns. Their credibility is now down the toilet.

They had no evidence for ventilators. It didn't work.
They had no evidence for a "just stay at home only 15 days, please!" policy. It didn't work.

They are just fueling endless drama and trying to gaslight the public into accepting it.

If Fauci demands everyone go out in Hazmat suits, and then pressures Democrats behind the scenes to issue fines and arrests for people who don't wear Hazmat suits in public, do we all have to "comply"? This is not Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union. We don't just surrender our liberties away because some unelected bureaucrat decrees it so. Enough is enough!

I am more concerned with how this virus will spread when Winter hits and people are battling the cold, flu, and pneumonia at the same time. Our society and economy were already destabilizing horribly after the brief lockdown that already occurred. What kind of powder keg will we face if it happens again and for a longer period of time? I lean toward the idea that letting the young, who have the lowest levels of ACE2 enzyme, catch this virus now and stop being vectors for at least through Winter is the best path forward. Thankfully, their collective social disobedience is resulting in that end goal.

This is exactly my concern...

Ventilators kept many people alive. Smart people came up with alternative solutions because of the lack of vents and the experience that this was not ARDS. Where did you get the idea that vents didn't save anyone? Again I ask, what experience do you have working with Covid patients? What ICU experience? Yes you feel the need to denigrate others who actually HAVE to wear PPE and know much more about masks than you do. They actually need them to survive so take the time to learn. Masks to you are a political punch line, not something you have to wear every day because you wouldn't dare to not to. And please don't compare public health to Naziism. That's so ignorant, insulting and demeaning. I just can't see from anything you have written that you are a serious person. Your generation will have to pay for this mess . Not me, I will already be dead but I hate the thought that my younger relatives will have to struggle to maintain a middle class life.
