I think I'm done answering student nurse help me threads here.
I've gotten rude answers, or they never even bother coming back to the thread to acknowledge the answers they received.
Some will ask life choice questions like "Where should I move?" or "Where should I apply?". Do they think someone is going to offer them a job here, is that why they start these threads? You have the whole internet to research towns, cities, regions, but instead you post a thread asking a bunch of strangers where you should move?
Some help me threads seem to be 'Help me do my homework' threads.
Thank you for reading.
Oh oh I thought of another one....Nurses who are in it for the paycheck are bad/poor/waste of a job nurses that are going to get burnt out
Thats my recent favorite.
And they are taking the place of someone who may not have gotten good grades, but they were "called" to be nurses, so they deserve it more.

I hear you! The rude answers bother me the most. If someone takes the time to try to help you out, why would you then send them a nasty reply telling them they're wrong, old, burned out or mean?
There really should be a sticky at the top of each student forum labeled "READ THIS BEFORE YOU CREATE A TOPIC." Maybe a basic FAQ to stave off some of the worst offenders. Maybe even a flat out ban on "I dunno what I wanna be when I grow up. My mom's sister's cousin's friend is a nurse and makes eleventy zillion dollars. I enjoy vague things like people and money. Is nursing for me?"

I wonder if they would even read it...rather, they would make five posts and place them in General Nursing, Nursing Student, Greetings, Pre-Nursing, Nursing News and label it an article...I could go on.....
LOVE hearing the newbies witch and moan about having to wait over a weekend or holiday for results. Like you two, I took the test with 1500 of my closest friends and had to wait about 90 days for results, while working with the now-antiquated "GN" after my name.As to the homework posts??? My students range from smart and dedicated to "wouldn't let him watch my cat for the weekend". And for some reason known only to the pixies, the former tend to question themselves and hold back, while the latter are SURE they are darned near ready to perform neurosurgery!!
I remember waiting the 90 days and calling a special number being on my knees praying that I passed.
My AF scholarship and college BSN program would have been toast if I failed.
I remember walking out of the testing area being like the 2nd or 3rd one out the door each session.
I followed my gut of never change answers and did really well in scoring in that years crop.
As long as we're on the subject......why is it if you even suggest that perhaps they WON'T pass the NCLEX (after failing multiple times).....or they might not be ready for this type of work when they balk at working weekends or nights or weekends......or that it's unrealistic to hold out for perfect hours/perfect pay when the job market is so tight......you're just "stomping on their dreams"? How is it so black and white: sunshine and sprinkles=good post.....constructive criticism or failure to agree to position presented=bad, "unsupportive" post.
It isn't pessimistic, it isn't "mean"; reality is a check that sometimes you've just GOTTA cash, people.

I think there's a big difference, though, between teaching a groups of new students in class, versus a post on a forum that shows that someone CLEARLY didn't take the time to scroll down, where FOUR POSTS BELOW someone asked the EXACT same question. TEN TIMES.
Should I get a BSN or an ADN?
What should my specialty be?
Did I pass the NCLEX? This was my 17th time taking it.
Is a 42% a good TEAS Score?
How did you study for the TEAS?
Can you e-mail me your study tips? My email is [email protected]. Call or text me, too! Here's my number!
Can I get a full time job on my DREEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAM unit working days at $120/hour right out of school? Why not??????
