Student Nurse "Help me!" Threads

Nurses General Nursing

I think I'm done answering student nurse help me threads here.

I've gotten rude answers, or they never even bother coming back to the thread to acknowledge the answers they received.

Some will ask life choice questions like "Where should I move?" or "Where should I apply?". Do they think someone is going to offer them a job here, is that why they start these threads? You have the whole internet to research towns, cities, regions, but instead you post a thread asking a bunch of strangers where you should move?

Some help me threads seem to be 'Help me do my homework' threads.

Thank you for reading.

Ahem. I believe I already said, pages back, that monies pertaining to COBS go to me, the self-appointed treasurer.

Fair enough, I'll settle for the checks from the future COBs!

You could go for Dr. Seuss, WebMD with that kind of poetic flare...

Love the new signature line!

What about people asking for OP's notes and posting their email full name and phone number in threads. Or blatantly asking people to share their study materials that are very costly.[/quote']

Why shouldn't we share study materials if we don't use them anymore?

Why shouldn't we share study materials if we don't use them anymore?

Oh, let me count the ways.

1) People who need constant rescuing never learn to do it themselves-- you want to work with them?

2) People who write these commercial materials deserve to be paid for their work; they often include language that says these materials cannot be resold, and yes, we do take it seriously.

3) People who bought those study materials will be very upset to learn that they don't have them to study when they are preparing for NCLEX or for a new patient population in their jobs, because nursing school and nursing in general isn't something where you can study for the test and then forget it, unlike, oh, European literature or art history.

4) People who buy really old ones aren't getting useful material...and they don't know it, so they make errors.

I am sure there are more. But since you ask.

What if the person taking notes was having a really bad day? What if he/she took inaccurate notes? What if he /she didn't understand anything that they were hearing and just wrote gibberish?

Go to your own classes. Take your own notes. Never trust an online forum for accurate answers.

RNsRwe,

Yes, you have a bippy.

Bippies come in all varying degrees of sweetness, and I, while experienced as the next nurse with body parts that get blurred out on cops, would not consider myself an expert in grading the sweetness of one's bippy over another.

You probably could file a grievance, but like most things with nursing school, it probably 1) won't do any good or 2) won't change anything until long after you're gone. :)

My apologies to all of AN for the less-than-mainstream vernacular. My current duty station is causing me to say/write things that make the Yankee in me cringe.

Bippy=one's rear end (at least here in the east). Back in the day where one's parents would have an utter COW if one referenced the rear end in any other fashion. (Especially the mule word. If I said that I would not be here typing this now).

Just as easily as OHHHH EMMMMM GEEEEE rolls off the tounge, a number of us thought it both cool and slightly naughty to say "you bet your bippy" or some other variation.....

And don't get me started with "Kiss my grits"......HAHAHAHAHAHA

(Especially the mule word. If I said that I would not be here typing this now).

Yes, I have been brought up to speed ;) I have even discovered some have a "sweet patooty". Oh my.

But (Butt??) I suppose you're actually referring to the "donkey word"....? LOL.....
