  1. You can do it on your own! You don't need parents. It's nice but not necessary. In college I would often become envious of my friends who had school paid for by their parents. Now I realize I'm better off. I've learned valuable life lessons early in life by providing for myself. My friends are just now discovering what it means to budget. You will be fine if you work HARD! Good luck!!!
  2. Going to 205 does not mean you failed. Take a break and try to relax. pay for the quick results. Unfortunately every Nclex is different so I can't tell you why the questions looked the same. The waiting is the hard part but we have all been there before! You will get through this:)
  3. Sleep!!! Your brain doesn't work well when you are using all your energy to stay awake.
  4. Sorry to hear you failed! This happens to some of the best nurses. I used a empty visa gift card when I did the PVT so I did not risk the $200.Maybe that will work for you next time. Good luck!!!
  5. If you love seniors CNA maybe a great option for you. CNAs obtain vital signs. Help seniors with tasks of daily living such as showering, dressing, eating and everything you do for yourself you will be assisting the client do. I mean EVERYTHING. I use to be a CNA for about 5yrs and I really enjoyed my time working in nursing homes with seniors. It's very hard and sometimes demanding work but if you enjoy helping and spending time with seniors it's worth the labor. As for techs at my hospital they mainly draw blood. I'm not sure what their other duties are. I wouldn't bank on the facility/hospital paying or training you to be a CNA or tech that will vary depending on the employer.
  6. I would have done the same thing.I refuse to assess my loved ones. I have too many emotions regarding my loved ones I couldn't possibly think clearly. Besides for insurance reasons I would want an accurate medical evaluation the same day of accident so hopefully injuries are not up for dispute.
  7. I would report this immediately. Even if it's nothing this was certainly a near miss that needs to be reported perhaps to help you in the future and possibly other employees.
  8. What is the point of your response? To be rude? This response does not answer or help anyone. If you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all.
  9. Yes me too! I'm skeptical that this is even a possibility.
  10. Staffing in a lot of ALFs depend on the level of need of the residents and if they are private pay or not. You could have 30 residents that are level one fully independent and staff just does their laundry and makes their meals. ALF and SNF are very different worlds.
  11. Unless these programs are through a community college I would careful. There were few legit online LPN to RN programs last time I checked. When I went from LPN to RN I had a lot of clinical hours to complete this I think is why the LPN to RN programs are primarily offered in traditional settings.
  12. In high school i did horrible! Then a few years passed I went to college obtained a biology degree then my LPN and now I'm a RN.I ran in to someone from high school recently who asked what I did after school I told her about my accomplishments. I asked the same question of her and mind you she was a A student In high school she proceeded to tell me she was considering college. Most people predicated She would have a college degree by now but people change a lot throughout their adult life.High school does not define a person. Good luck:)
  13. I work with a talky nurse as well. When she's distracting me I ask her for help with something. This seems to do the trick because then she gets distracted with the task:) I really don't know how she finishes everything and still finds time to chat:)
  14. Have you tried to contact DHS? Perhaps there are classes or programs. Idk, I'm a Oregon nurse and have worked with Oregon nurses who have had DUIs. There must be away. This is more of a legal issue though. We can't answer legal questions. Best of luck to you!
