Should I divorce my husband

Published

We were given a deck of cards for "hospital" week. They don't do nurses week, or day. I think it was disgusting and rude of administration, but my husband thinks it's hilarious. Am I just a crusty old bat? Lord knows I'm old enough to qualify.

We got cards too...it's suppose to be funny...I guarantee their reason behind it wasn't malicious. We all thought it was great when we got them. I think divorce is kind of extreme.

I got socks. Want to trade? The hospital gifts, not husbands.

Actually, what's your husband look like?

I've only ever worked at one hospital that contributed anything at all to nurses week, all nurses week activities (typically food like a breakfast buffet or something) have been provided by nurses. It's kind of pathetic, like throwing a birthday party for yourself. The one place I've worked where the hospital contributed to the "celebration", all they did was bought a few boxes of frozen burritos for each floor.

If you're in this field for hospital administrative recognition or platitudes then you picked the wrong field.

I’m kind of torn on this. Decks of cards between nurses/nurse allies is hilarious.

Your hospital could have been trying to be “down with tha kidz, yo” like they totally get the nurse struggle, but it’s pretty tone deaf.

They could have at least written notes or something joking around about the cards, while letting you know they have your back and are not the kind of hospital a certain politician “advocates” for.

As for your husband, does he care enough to bring you chicken soup and/or playing cards when you’re sick? There’s your answer ?

I think that was a joke, too.

I think it's cute but would prefer a GIFT CARD!

I'm with Davey and Old Dude . . . this was funny.

And no, don't divorce your husband for having a sense of humor.

I think it is hilarious. I could use a deck of cards. I have gotten, over the years, 2 back packs, 2 umbrellas, beach towel, fake yeti (it worked well), folding chair, and a few other misc items. I do not expect anything, other than a thank you, and any small item is appreciated. Including a deck of cards.

What does a fake yeti have to do to work?

My current employer is the only one I’ve had that actually acknowledged nurse week. I got a company-branded beach towel one year, a plastic 20 oz tumbler one year, and nothing last year (still waiting on this year). The cards were trying to be funny, I hope, but divorce is too much of a pain in the butt. LOL. If nothing else, challenge hubby to a game of strip poker!

Bad move on part of the hospital. Not funny to me. How would they like it if a senator made a totally false comment about hospital administrators? Like they spend a big part of their day playing golf or poker. And the nurses presented them with golf T's or poker chips on their day of the year. Yeah, they wouldn't like it one bit!

Think of something creative to do with those cards to let them know they are not appreciated. I am sure someone on here can come up with something.
