Should I divorce my husband

Published

We were given a deck of cards for "hospital" week. They don't do nurses week, or day. I think it was disgusting and rude of administration, but my husband thinks it's hilarious. Am I just a crusty old bat? Lord knows I'm old enough to qualify.

I think it's funny! Good grief, too many people with no sense of humor...

Because a lot of nurses didn't think it was funny is why cards as a gift is not appropriate. Some take their profession very seriously I'd say.

The cards were trying to be funny, I hope, but divorce is too much of a pain in the butt. LOL. If nothing else, challenge hubby to a game of strip poker!

YES, keeping a sense of humor keeps a marriage going! And yes, strip poker would be fun. If I didn't have a kid in the house still. ?

Sounds like someone needs to arrange a sleepover somewhere else ??‍♀️?

I say, if this is his pattern about everything and he amuses himself by belittling you and your feelings.. dump him.. I did after 23 years of marriage and haven't been this happy in years (it did take a couple of years to settle into my new life). Emotional abuse is the most prevalent type of abuse and hardest to extricate yourself from.

Ehh. I asked my husband what he was getting me for nurses week. He said "well, I already got you a deck of cards, what else do nurses need?" (He had my son given me a deck for my birthday)

Then he says "I'd get you a stethoscope but those are only for doctors."

I knew he was completely joking, and honestly if nurses are going to post pictures joking and saying they are mad a code was called because they are missing their card game... what do you expect? (I'm guilty too, posted a pic of me playing cards at my desk).

Divorce, no. And truth be told, if I was given a deck of cards from my workplace I would probably think it's hilarious.

Our DON gives us gifts for nurses week and at the bottom of the gift bag was a deck of cards, I thought to myself “nice touch” and laughed out loud! Our company culture is far from one that would be offended.

If you think that is good grounds to divorce someone for something that trivial I would HATE to see when he really does something bone headed.

That will someday happen! I’m a guy I know ? bonehead moves are a part of whole experience.

Even though you might want to cut him as he shuffles around the house he sounds like quite the joker.

Oh good lord, that's a bit extreme. Finding a situation hilarious that your spouse does not is not emotional abuse. Even married couples can have completely different senses of humor...

I agree. That's disgusting and rude of administration. It shows a total lack of appreciation for everything you do.
