Should I divorce my husband

We were given a deck of cards for "hospital" week. They don't do nurses week, or day. I think it was disgusting and rude of administration, but my husband thinks it's hilarious. Am I just a crusty old bat? Lord knows I'm old enough to qualify.

I think it is hilarious....I mean most managers use to be at the bedside, they know how ***ed up that senator was. I think it show comrade in a way most gifts wouldn’t.

Loved all the replies. The funny thing is, I've had a deck of cards (unopened) in my backpack for about 10 years.

We just celebrated 43 years of marriage, and he is very attractive. So no, you can't have him. And he is a fabulous nurse that takes very good care of me. Of course, he ain't perfect, but neither am I.

After reading everyones responses I realize it is kind of funny what they did. This is why I love Allnurses. A place to come and *** and share and learn from the only group that truly understands our lives. Lot's of times the chat changes how I view things.

If the cards were at the bottom of a bag full of other things, that is funny. But to just give out decks of cards would be a joke that missed its mark. Administration can't pretend to find the situation humorous if they actually agree with Senator Walsh. Their staffing policies will determine if that is the case.

I agree! Changing Nurse's Week to Hospital Week was their first mistake. You give nurses cheesy tote bags and polar fleece throws you can see through.

If they'd stuck Las Vegas hotel and meal vouchers in the card package well then OK.

Your backpack sounds like my backpack. 10 years ago would be the basement of my backpack. Maybe your husband burst out laughing at the absurdity of it all. He's probably heard lots of "can you believe this?" work stories over the years. ?

Seems cards were in the gift packs for most employers this nurses week. At least the card companies are probably enjoying their unexpected surge in sales!

I see the humor in including a pack of cards in a gift for nurses this year, In fact I even see it as a way that the companies are acknowledging that they are aware of the issues facing nurses and understand what the big deal it was to have that idiot suggest that nurses play cards on shift. But I definitely think it’s pretty rude if that’s the only thing they include. It better be just a little gag gift as part of something better.

But I guess that just wasn’t in the cards for everyone.

At least you got something this week from your employer. Our group had events for nurses at the hospitals but nothing for us in the physician offices, so my manager put a basket together of candy and a steel water bottle.
