Jealous Friends...

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Have you guys experienced any jealousy or changes in your friends because you're now a nurse?

I'm in the pre nursing phase, and now 2 of my close friends (who dropped out first year of college) are going back because of me. I'm not sure weather to feel flattered or insulted.

And thank you haters for making my thread the most POPULAR in this category.

I appreciate it.

I am going to say this as nicely as possible, you would not survive in my hospital. Trust and believe that you will be needing the help of your coworkers and I don't think anyone will come to your rescue. No, you don't know everything and you never will. They must have ran out of humble pie when it was your turn.

If you used any common sense (which you clearly have none of) You'd realize that being 10 does not get you into college. Or my life experience.

Have you never seen doogie howser? He was in college at age 10

No, she's too young for old shows like that.

I was in the store a little while ago with my kids and they all chose chocolate milk like me. I asked them why they chose something to drink instead of a snack. Can you believe they had the nerves to tell me they were thirsty. I WAS THE THIRSTY ONE!!! All that research I did about the different types of drinks and all they had to do was copy me. My oldest daughter told me she loves copying me because I always pick the best things. That little ungrateful WITCH!! Now, I totally understand the whole "jealous" thing you guys are speaking of.

The nerve!

The OP has a previous bachelor's degree in psychology so regarding her age you can guess from that a little bit. I think all this negative attention that she's thriving on is just going to take away from her getting some help or studying or whatever else so jmo maybe it would be best not to keep encouraging her this way.

Again, you are leading with assumptions.

One of them TOLD ME DIRECTLY, I am the reason they are doing this. Would you walk up to a stranger in public and give them a step by step of how to take your job?

YOU are the ones who are delusional.

I'm learning some basic life lesson later in life because I've been trusting and willing to help anyone.

I just don't understand the hate I'm getting in asking a question, so I will ask again.

Wow...if someone told me that I was the reason he/she decided to go into nursing school, I would be flattered. I would see it as that person saying he/she considered me a role model.

You can ask the question over and over, but you're still going to get the same answers. If you think we're all delusional, why would you even want to ask the question again?

And for heaven's sake, no one here hates you.

I don't know why you would feel insulted because you motivated your friends to go back to school. I would personally feel happy that my friends went back to school because they saw me doing it. Sometimes people need that little push and when they see someone they're close with succeeding they want to as well. When I went into nursing school I had some friends tell me "nursing is hard, I wouldn't do it" blah blah blah, to be honest that offended me. When I graduated they didn't say stuff like that anymore and they were all at my graduation supporting me! Be happy you motivated them and be happy for them for taking the right steps for a better future!

I still have a higher degree than you.

I look forward to the day I'm your (or likes if you) superior

Haha you're not a nurse!! Haha! You can't sit with us. *sticks out tongue*

Careful. She says she will be our superior someday. Don't burn your bridges, no matter how jealous you are!

As long as it's taking her to get through the pre reqs, I'm going to be retired and enjoying not having to deal with personalities like hers long before she ever gets to the point of being "superior" to me.

Assuming she finds a Nursing program that is desperate enough to accept her, passes it (and it needs to be at least a BSN program by the way), passes NCLEX and then works as a nurse for 36 years.

I look forward to the thread that she starts when her friends decide they want to become our superiors.
