Jealous Friends...

Nursing Students School Programs

Have you guys experienced any jealousy or changes in your friends because you're now a nurse?

I'm in the pre nursing phase, and now 2 of my close friends (who dropped out first year of college) are going back because of me. I'm not sure weather to feel flattered or insulted.

I look forward to the thread that she starts when her friends decided they want to become our superiors.

I don't consider myself a hateful person, but I would be amused if she ended up not being accepted into a nursing program.

Dear goodness, I can't imagine being in clinicals with someone like the OP.

I still have a higher degree than you.

I look forward to the day I'm your (or likes if you) superior

ha!

Supervisor-- perhaps, stranger things have happened

Superior----not a chance!!

I don't wish bad things on anyone, so I wouldn't be amused.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised.

Time will tell.

And I don't know how a thread about jealous friends turned into a personal attack against me.

You (most of you) are really hateful people.

Tch. We're just jealous.

Do you have any friends that are actually happy for you? Those are the people to surround yourself with.

If there are "friends" that were jealous of me, I don't know nor care...

OP, per your description, "copying" isn't jealousy; and I come from a background where there is a "crabs from the barrel" mentality; I have been told by my own mother I was too lazy to be a nurse.

I do have one example of "jealousy" I guess...

I remember one coworker that told me once that I couldn't work in two specialties; years later our paths crossed and guess what? I was working in two specialities!

Was that person shocked? Sure. Did I care? No.

I don't see what your friends doing as being jealous-I could see if they are doing it and then turning around and saying to you that you aren't going to make it; however, if, according to your other posts where you are not doing well in A&P and they are doing well and stating that, that would be a fact, not jealousy, so even if they are doing it, they have every right to, as much as you do.

A famous football player once stated that he doesn't compete with others, he competes with himself; he stated "I run my own race...when you run your own race, you never lose."

You've put yourself out there open to interpretation; even if you did hear what you don't like, people have a right to do so; no one is attacking you or being hateful; if anything they don't see your issue, and they have a right to interpret that based on what you have articulated; we don't know you nor, at least to me, have a bearing in our lives to "hate" you; never mistake directness and honest interpretation as "hate", especially based on what you've put out in the universe...not everyone is going to get it, and they have that right to not get it-they run their own race as much as you should do so-the world would be a boring place if we all thought alike.

Best wishes.

Again, perhaps you should wait until you're accepted into a program, or heaven forbid, actually a nurse before you start imagining (or engaging a delusion of grandeur) about being someone's superior.

Specializes in HH, Peds, Rehab, Clinical.

And this is why the people here believe you to have the emotional maturity of a 5th grader....

And thank you haters for making my thread the most POPULAR in this category.

I appreciate it.

Really? You can't figure it out?

You're being the most hateful poster here.

This just can't be real. I think that at this point the OP is just enjoying shocking everyone. I have to believe this is an act, because I can't believe any adult aspiring to enter into the nursing profession would be this immature.

IF the OP finishes their prerequisites, IF they are able get accepted into a nursing program with a dismal GPA, IF they pass that program, IF they pass the NCLEX, IF they are able to get a job in a highly competitive market, then it will be years and years away before they even begin to get a taste of real world nursing. By that time I sincerely hope the road there has taught the OP to be humble, mature, and professional.

At this time, I am going to stop engaging in a child's tantrum. Maybe one day we will encounter the OP as an adult, I sincerely hope so. Hopefully the OP will in the future become a surprisingly successful and fantastic nurse. I am not going to entertain this full blown childish tantrum anymore.

I think it's fake, too. It would be too sad if it was true.
