i agree with you on the waking up at 5am thing. I HATE IT. i cant wait til i graduate and get myself a nice night shift or evening shift job and never have to wake up that early again. hmf.

also i hate my uniform and i cant wait to burn it.

I agree with all of the above. I also hate the time nursing school takes away from my family and friends. I hate the papers and careplans, I hate the reading assignments, and I'm tired of the tests, the anxiety, the stress, and the sleep deprivation.

My fantasy upon graduating is to drive down to the beach, find an empty fire pit, toss all the stacks and stacks and stacks of handouts, power-points, papers, care plans, and busy-work assignments into it, douse it all with lighter fluid, fling a match, and watch it all go ablaze!

I'm going to duck in over here to tell a cute story even though my student nurse days are behind me. My nursing school class was small and very tight-knit (only 20 of us). For one class that was uniformly hated amongst our group, the teacher often communicated by email. Upon the completion of this class, we were all celebrating, but one of my classmates decided to send a group email out suggesting a book-burning party. Unfortunately, she forgot to remove the professor's name when she hit "reply to all"! Luckily our professor was amused and suggested that it might be more prudent to sell it back to the bookstore.

I hate dayshift clinicals also!! I, too cannot wait for an evening/nightshift job!!! I don't mind my uniform that much (Navy blue pants and navy or white scrub top) and I'll be DAMNED if I burn my powerpoint packets, I pay $40 each for them!!!! That's expensive kindling LOL!

Just dropping in to say I love your thread title. It drew my attention. This topic will be suitable throughout your nursing career.

I also hate getting up at 4:45 for clinicals two days a week --- I hate all the reading, care plans, and studying for test. I want to hang with my husband and kids and not worry about school. I want scrubs that the material isn't so thick it feels like I'm wearing cardboard. ha ha - Thanks I needed that!!! :)

WORD. I want to set fire to every last careplan.

I hate having an exam every week and trying like hell to fit in study time on top of lab class, lab tests, group projects, and clinicals 16 hrs a week + paper work for clinical that takes up to 20 hrs total to complete. I'm tired of waking up at 5am on my ONE off day in order to supplement some extra time even though I am dead tired, and I am SICKENED at myself for feeling guilty for sleeping in one day a week (Saturday).

The irony of nursing school is that we're about health promotion, but to hell with our own health: our sleep, our eating, our physical activity, our stress relief! We're all about taking care of other people's families, and never get to see our own. Nursing school is the perfect breeding ground for future martyrs.

Don't get me started on the 5am thing. My body ***** slaps me every Thurs/Fri morning for it because it's so unnatural for my personal circadian rhythm. It's an ungodly hour and should be banned. Oh yeah, my school's scrub pants: SUCK. They literally squeeze you to death with some elastic spandex or something, I don't even know, but I am going to burn those along with the careplan one day I promise you.

Ugh. Getting up at 5 AM, or earlier, the horrible scrubs, going in and feeling lost and clueless and stupid, then coming home to do piles of homework, then having to get up the next day to either do it again or take four tests. Nursing school, how I hated you.

Complain away!

i hate ALL the above; 5am mornings... whoever said it messes up your natural rythm is right. I feel horrible on those days and usually the day after too!!! i cant stand the nursing school politics!!! how teachers will call one student out for (example) charting at the nurses station rather than the computer in the patients room when others dont get in trouble for doing the same thing. i think the teachers are more immature than the students. i hate how unorganized everything is i.e. we have no idea what our schedule is next semester and we are supposed to register in like 3 days. i hate the useless paperwork. many who are already nurses have said we will never do this stuff in the real world. i HATE standing around at clinical wasting time. and i don't mean that i can't find something to keep me busy... the teacher wont let us do anything at 11 am because we are supposed to go to lunch and after 2 because we have to do post conference. well we always end up standing around waiting for HER for hours!!! if we do try to help one of the nurses we get in trouble. once a nurse asked me to get a blood sugar at 12pm and i go yelled at for telling her i would do it. ridiculous!!! well sorry for the rant... but i could go on. did i mention i HATE HATE HATE morning clinical?!?!? definately going to look for a 3-11 or 11-7 job somewhere when i am licenced. only 3 1/2 more months till graduation for me... 17 more clinicals (not that im counting) Guess we have to just put up with it till we're done and pray it gets better after graduation :) good luck everyone

I hated nursing school and I hated our ugly scrubs.

So, I burned my scrubs. I let my two kids each toss a piece into the bonfire...

And before those hideous scrubs actually burned... they sorta... melted .

That was quality fabric, folks!
