Mornin' all. I got my first dose today and I feel almost tearfully relieved and energized to be on this side of history. I thought I would start a thread dedicated to the experience of being vaccinated, so that we can share info with those who are still on the fence or who are watchful waiting to see how things go.
My hospital got 5000 doses delivered on Tuesday. We have given almost half of that already in the last two days. Participation is voluntary and divided into tiered groups based on patient exposure. Those who volunteer (still paid but outside normal job duties) to work the employee Covid vaccine clinic we have set up can also get it, which is how I was eligible to get it already today.
Getting the second dose is crucial for any protection, so we make an appointment to come back for the second dose on exactly day 21. We will get another shipment from Pfizer in time for that. My wait time in line was about 30 minutes in all. The first day employees showed up and waited over 2 hours, cheerfully. There is a LOT of positivity and hope going on here surrounding this, which feels amazing.
We go to an observation room for 10 minutes after the injection, where we were given bottled water and single serving snacks while we observe for any allergic reaction.
The injection itself was nothing. Easiest shot I have ever gotten by far. I don't even have any arm soreness so far. I will touch base if I start to get any kind of side effects.
Anyone else getting theirs yet?

I got my first dose left deltoid and immediately after lost feeling in my hand. It was numb but the doctor stated same happened to her in her hand and it lasted a few hours. 10 minutes after a wave of numbness tingling sensation went through my entire body into my tongue and I could no longer feel my face. Very scary. I fortunately received it while I was working so I was in the best place. Airway wasn’t compromised so it was a mild/mod reaction. Vitals were good and my oxygen saturation never dropped. It’s been 6 hours and I am not able to feel my hand and left side of my face which got very numb after the injection. I am opting out of receiving the second dose obviously. This was my experience and I’m happy to hear no one else got this.
I had one vaccination - years ago - tingle down my arm, leaving my entire arm and hand completely numb. Feeling started coming back after a few hours and by the next morning I could use it.
I figured they hit a nerve?

It's never happened to me but that's what I was thinking. Sounds like a nerve. Just seems highly unlikely it was the vaccine itself that would cause that kind of sensation. I think some nurses doing the injection need a little refresher on IM injections because I got mine so high on the deltoid I thought she was going to hit bone.

Yeah this happened to me once years ago. Pretty sure it was a nerve being hit.
My manager has requested we schedule our appointments so that we have a day off afterwards, just in case we have a reaction.
I got the Pfizer on Tuesday just before leaving work. Wednesday I was off, and my upper arm was sore with any movement, but no worse than with a flu vax. Thursday I was back at work and my arm was only slightly sore if I pressed on it. Friday back to normal. Now, I do hear that the second dose is more likely to engender the flu-like systems, but for me it was just normal injection-site soreness for round 1. I'll still make sure to give myself a day off when I get the booster.

Had mine today. I'm 51 with no health issues. Sore in the delt, but nothing else. I had a bit of a headache a couple of hours after, but that could've been anything. I also administered the vaccine to fellow colleagues... many had reservations too, but nobody had a reaction. Our head pharmacist was on site to answer any questions. We gave the Moderna vaccine and used a 25g, 1 inch needle. I heard that Pfizer was having a bit of an issue with supply. We had to carefully manage the appointments with people and the vaccine being prepared to make sure we did over prepare injections that would end up getting wasted if nobody else was coming to get the injection. I believe they said it had a 24 hr shelf life (maybe less) once thawed to room temperature.
