Mornin' all. I got my first dose today and I feel almost tearfully relieved and energized to be on this side of history. I thought I would start a thread dedicated to the experience of being vaccinated, so that we can share info with those who are still on the fence or who are watchful waiting to see how things go.

My hospital got 5000 doses delivered on Tuesday. We have given almost half of that already in the last two days. Participation is voluntary and divided into tiered groups based on patient exposure. Those who volunteer (still paid but outside normal job duties) to work the employee Covid vaccine clinic we have set up can also get it, which is how I was eligible to get it already today.

Getting the second dose is crucial for any protection, so we make an appointment to come back for the second dose on exactly day 21. We will get another shipment from Pfizer in time for that. My wait time in line was about 30 minutes in all. The first day employees showed up and waited over 2 hours, cheerfully. There is a LOT of positivity and hope going on here surrounding this, which feels amazing.

We go to an observation room for 10 minutes after the injection, where we were given bottled water and single serving snacks while we observe for any allergic reaction.

The injection itself was nothing. Easiest shot I have ever gotten by far. I don't even have any arm soreness so far. I will touch base if I start to get any kind of side effects.

Anyone else getting theirs yet?

Got it Monday morning. Delt hurt same as after flu shot, so not enough to take anything for it. Pain gone today. No other effects. And I am anaphylactic to bees. Did that stop me from getting vaccinated? Nope, didn’t even hesitate.

Thank you. I also carry an epi pen for bee sting allergy. Our physician said he would find out whether vaccination would be OK . I now plan to be vaccinated ASAP. It will likely be a few months as I'm not on the front lines.

Just got it this morning.  When the occupational health guy greeted me at the door I literally said "I'm so excited!" like a nerd and he laughed.  The NP who gave it to me had excellent technique, literally one of the most painless shots I've ever had.  Arm has just the slightest hint of soreness, but not bad at all.  I feel totally fine, went home and breastfed my 7 month old a half hour later.  Overall an even better experience than your average flu vaccine.  Hoping for brighter days ahead.

I got my vaccine today. Did not hurt a single bit. They must use a tiny needle. I'll have to see if my arm hurts tomorrow.

Worst vax I have ever had was the first of the 2 Shingrix. That's worse than tetorifice.

It was amazing. Everyone was so excited to be getting it ❤️

I came here to see if anyone had any reactions like me ? Guess I’m the rare case and felt to share. I got my first dose left deltoid and immediately after lost feeling in my hand. It was numb but the doctor stated same happened to her in her hand and it lasted a few hours. 10 minutes after a wave of numbness tingling sensation went through my entire body into my tongue and I could no longer feel my face. Very scary. I fortunately received it while I was working so I was in the best place. Airway wasn’t compromised so it was a mild/mod reaction. Vitals were good and my oxygen saturation never dropped. It’s been 6 hours and I am not able to feel my hand and left side of my face which got very numb after the injection. I am opting out of receiving the second dose obviously. This was my experience and I’m happy to hear no one else got this.

I am unable to edit my submission but I meant after 6 hours I can now **** able to feel my hand and face.

Yes very scary ! They called a rapid when I lost feeling in my tongue. Bunch of stuff went through my mind and I cried because I was scared ugh but thankfully I’m the rare case ! Doctor did say the hand thing happened to her as well.

I've taken my time reading as much as I could and trying to understand the vaccine as thoroughly as possible (without going back to school for a few years) and decided to get mine today. Went to the climbing gym for a couple of hours and then ran 3 miles after. ha.

Arm is a little sore, but otherwise all good so far. I honestly felt like the nurse gave it too high on the deltoid which is the only reason it hurts like it does at all.

I got mine 15 hours ago...my arm is sore, but comparable to a flu shot. I did take an NSAID for cramps  (menses) after the shot, which I have also done a couple of times with the flu shot (when the timing works out) and I would say I usually have an easier time with the flu shot when I do this. So far I feel fine otherwise and maybe I'll take an NSAID for my next dose in January too.  (They give me reflux, so I plan ahead and pre-medicate with a PPI for a few days...it's a little ridiculous!)

Working in a newly-converted COVID ICU, I'm coming down on the side of "I'm nervous about the shot but I do NOT want COVID!"  Before seeing these patients it was easier to think "I'll roll the dice...I'm pretty young and pretty healthy, right?"  Not anymore.

Received mine yesterday afternoon. I went to bed after (because I work nights) and woke up feeling fine other than some soreness at the injection site.

Good evening all. Had Vaccine on Dec 17th. NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER! I personally recommend my patients and for myself to have vaccinations in my Dominate arm. Why? I'm glad you asked. My dominate extremity is always at work, therefore I am not pampering my arm and the medication is being slowly released into the muscle so I don't feel it.
