Mornin' all. I got my first dose today and I feel almost tearfully relieved and energized to be on this side of history. I thought I would start a thread dedicated to the experience of being vaccinated, so that we can share info with those who are still on the fence or who are watchful waiting to see how things go.

My hospital got 5000 doses delivered on Tuesday. We have given almost half of that already in the last two days. Participation is voluntary and divided into tiered groups based on patient exposure. Those who volunteer (still paid but outside normal job duties) to work the employee Covid vaccine clinic we have set up can also get it, which is how I was eligible to get it already today.

Getting the second dose is crucial for any protection, so we make an appointment to come back for the second dose on exactly day 21. We will get another shipment from Pfizer in time for that. My wait time in line was about 30 minutes in all. The first day employees showed up and waited over 2 hours, cheerfully. There is a LOT of positivity and hope going on here surrounding this, which feels amazing.

We go to an observation room for 10 minutes after the injection, where we were given bottled water and single serving snacks while we observe for any allergic reaction.

The injection itself was nothing. Easiest shot I have ever gotten by far. I don't even have any arm soreness so far. I will touch base if I start to get any kind of side effects.

Anyone else getting theirs yet?

Has anyone signed up for that website after getting your shot? I believe it is for CDC and they want you to log in symptoms.

I'm lazy, so I didn't even bother. When they were explaining it to me I kept thinking " what am I getting out of this extra work?"

No thank you.

I believe they want you to log in every day or every other day and put down how you feel.  Yeah right, my free internet time is for things like AllNurses.com

I get mine the day after tomorrow.  I have talked to a lot of more-educated people than myself, advanced nurse practioners, MDs etc, who have all received this vaccine and are no worse for it.  I'll be back to let  you know!

Hi Everyone,

I received the Moderna vaccine on Monday 12/28, wasn't painful. By the time I went to bed all I had was a sore arm which was to be expected. I was awoken by a shooting pain to my right lateral wrist, it was annoying more than anything and I couldn't shake it. At this point I also had body aches and serious chills. I couldn't get comfortable in bed eventually I got up and had to take 1000mg of tylenol at 4am. I sweated the fever in the first hour or so and finally slept. At around 7:45 the chills and aches were back with a vengeance, this time with a headache and nausea. I took another 1000mg of tylenol at 10am and it didn't touch the headache and the fever only went down a little, just enough for me to get a nap in. I took another 1000mg of tylenol at 4pm and by 5pm I had to go back to bed and rest. It's now 11pm and although I still feel like crap and have a fever and some aches. It is not as bad as it was earlier. I should mention my husband tested positive for covid today. I'm going to get tested tomorrow, although I already had it so I don't think I have it again.

I just got my Pfizer COVID vaccine an hour ago, in my right arm. I didn't even feel the shot. ? About 10 minutes later, my right wrist began to ache.

So far, so good.

I got the Moderna vaccine on Monday @ 0800. My arm was a little tender after a couple of hours,so I took some Ibuprofen.Worked all day. By evening,my arm was swollen and painful.I felt as if I had chills and a headache all evening but no fever. Yesterday, I still felt mildly headachy and I woke up this am with a sore throat. Our weather just got very wet and cold,so sore throat may be from that. All in all, this was lots easier than the Hepatitis vaccine.I am due to be off on 1/25 when I am scheduled for my second shot. I will go in  and get it.Probably will plan on hanging around at work, since I live alone. Will be interested in hearing others accounts of second shot.

I wonder if your reaction is because you already had COVID.  From what I've read, it's the second shot that is much more likely to cause flu-like symptoms. Maybe you had this reaction to the first dose because your immune system was already primed from your earlier encounter with the virus.

I hadn't thought of that. That's a very solid point and in line with what people are experiencing after their second dose. I just hope the second dose doesn't bring even worse symptoms!

I got my first vaccine 2 days ago. As soon as I got it, I was surprised at the relief I felt. I guess I was more worried about getting the virus and infecting my husband than I realized.

I had zero reaction, and I'm feeling grateful.

Got the Moderna vaccine earlier this afternoon. My arm is a little sore, but nothing too crazy. It didn't actually get sore until 6-7 hours later. I feel fine otherwise. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.
