What general discussion topic on allnurses do you get the most annoyed at?

For example: My pet-peeve is the "I hate working the floor. What cushy nursing jobs are there that do not require any real work?"

How would you like to respond to these topics?

For example: I would like to respond "Quit being lazy, put your time in, and develop into a stronger nurse before venturing out."

Without being specific enough to identify anyone, please contribute with your thoughts about topics that annoy you the most.

Please do not insult, demean, or disparage anyone. After all- at allnurses we are allfriends.

We had a girl in our cohort who went to a meeting with us all before our first classes began. This girl asked if there would be drug testing before clinicals. At that time, the answer was no. Before the last semester for her (she dropped classes and graduated a year after us), she posted a message on facebook freaking out because they only gave her a few days' notice for drug testing. Not gonna lie - I thought it was hilarious. She managed to pass the test, I'm assuming, because she was in school and graduated on time.

Look - I don't judge a person for using drugs. I really don't, and that can get flamed all you want. BUT... They're illegal, and if you're going to break the law as you're trying to get into a professional program and occupation, you have to recognize there are consequences - HUGE ones - like spending thousands on a degree that you might as well set on fire because the state BON doesn't like a person who breaks the law being entrusted with vulnerable populations.

Yup, along with "does anyone know how long after I last smoked weed it can show up in a urine test?!" Please help me, I'm freaking out!!

I just checked The Mockery thread. Hooboy. Wish I had time to go through all 162 pages!

With an electronic test, the results should be available immediately! I understand not wanting to give them the second the screen changes so you don't have all kinds of emotionally charged reactions (good and bad) but maybe send an email after an hour to allow someone to decompress or get home.

It's a Quality Assurance thing; the exam has two set of scores, with the second score occuring at some point during the following 24 hours. PV can't release results until both scores are done, so....nope, they're still going to have to wait. No instant emails ;)

Chip away a bit at a time. It was fun :)

And after someone posts that it probably wasn't the best plan of action to use illegal substances while trying to get a nursing job.....Don't forget to follow up with "You can't judge me, you don't know me, you don't know what a great nurse I am, you are so NEGATIVE! ONE little mistake, haven't any of you ever made a mistake? It's not like I'm going to be stoned EVERY day, I just use sometimes on special occasions!!"

Those are always charming.

That being said, when I took the NCLEX in 2010, I totally did the PVT... I had not one shred of patience :)

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, this country really has raised a generation that cannot wait even the smallest amount of time for anything, even important stuff.

Au Contraire...the title of this thread is after all "Flame on" so it seems this is the perfect time to let your vitamin B flag fly!

Okay, here goes:

There is a current thread where a person who has no job and no children is asking how she can maintain her marriage during nursing school. I mean, really?

When I think of how many stories I've read here about people who got through nursing school as single parents or while working full time and taking care of a family....it just hit me the wrong way. I'll admit that being a current nursing student, while also working full time and trying to raise five kids and keep my marriage in some semblance of stasis may have contributed to my irritation.

Yeah, I just shook my head at that one too. Any thread in that vein hits me the wrong way. Any degree, not just nursing takes work and sacrificing some personal "me" time for success. The majority of students have to juggle work, family and school. Nobody said it was easy.

These posters are the walking, talking definition of the entitled that those of us with some living under our belts get accused of eating if we address their silliness.

"My job sucks,.....Thanks Obama!"

going slightly off topic: stumbled onto an extremely right wing Facebook page, and seeing a comment blaming Obama & his stance on undocumented immigrants as being the cause of the measles outbreak.
