What general discussion topic on allnurses do you get the most annoyed at?

For example: My pet-peeve is the "I hate working the floor. What cushy nursing jobs are there that do not require any real work?"

How would you like to respond to these topics?

For example: I would like to respond "Quit being lazy, put your time in, and develop into a stronger nurse before venturing out."

Without being specific enough to identify anyone, please contribute with your thoughts about topics that annoy you the most.

Please do not insult, demean, or disparage anyone. After all- at allnurses we are allfriends.

And never one not to laugh at myself...

"LPN's who mentor BSN's/run circles around RN's/should be grandfathered in/have to go back to school to do the same job as yesterday...." YES, I am very guilty of all of the above.....YES, it felt really good to vent and to know that others were in my shoes as well.

But RN's who can't pass the NCLEX should be granted an LPN license takes the cake.....and on the cake metaphor, we would all like our cake and eat it to, but those days are gone. Period.

And I KNOW ya'll are sick of hearing it...because when I start sounding like broken record...oh, wait, I think that may be an annoyance too....:***:HAHA!

That was a great thread. I was probably one of the offenders.

"I have never experienced X. Therefore, X does not exist."

"I hate people. Sick people disgust me. I faint at the sight of blood. Should I become a nurse?"

"I have a negative GPA. Which schools will accept me?"

"All nurses younger than me are lazy, entitled, and incompetent."

"I have been in nursing since God was a boy, so I shouldn't have to train people/work nights/work weekends/work holidays/learn to use the computer/wear gloves/change my practice in the slightest from what I learned in school."

"I shouldn't be expected to work evenings/nights/weekends/holidays because I have kids/no kids/dogs/a hobby farm/an exceptionally needy gerbil/an active nightlife/a spouse/no spouse/church/a hangnail."

"I shouldn't be expected to drive to work in the snow, despite living in a very snowy area."

"My best friend's neighbor's uncle's baby momma's twin sister's mailman's grandmother's mechanic's first cousin twice removed, who lives 50 miles from the middle of nowhere, said the nursing home in his town is always looking for staff, even after the state shut them down last month. If you're not wiling to care for 175 patients by yourself, 60 hours a week, all 3 shifts, for $7.50 per hour, you just don't want a job badly enough."

"I am the hardest working nurse who has ever lived. I haven't taken a sick day, vacation day, lunch break, or used the bathroom at work since 1962. I do all of my patients' care, make beds, cook all of their meals from scratch (including catching, slaughtering, and field-dressing wild game), and do all of their laundry by myself. Nurses who take time off or do less than me are lazy."

Non-US and Canadian nurses, who want to work somewhere other than the US and Canada, who ask random questions about random immigration requirements. HAAD seems to be the most common. Isn't that what the World Nursing forum is for?

The Pearson View Trick.

Kind of like when they want information about something. You wonder if they know about Google.

lmgtfy.com

Yeah, sometimes you have to wonder how someone clearly able to create a profile on an online message board is also apparently unaware that the the Internet exists.

"Is it OK to punch a patient if they hit me first?" "What if they look like they're going to hit me...can I hit them first"

"No? So I'm just supposed to stand around around AND LET HIM KILL ME!!"

The posts that annoy me the most are from the older nurses who are really rude and condescending and act as if they were never experienced being fresh out of nursing school before with no clue as to what was going on. It's as if some members of allnurses actually enjoy making others feel bad about not knowing some things.. I've noticed it is always the older more experienced nurses who tend to be the cattiest.

People who complain about topics being rehashed are annoying too. If you dont want to discuss the topic again, then why did you even click on the post? If you're tired of seeing certain things constantly discussed, then deactivate your AllNurses account. Lol its a FORUM. Topics will be discussed over and over again!

Yes i have. All 19 pages. But you know what they say; if you throw a rock into a pack of wild dogs, the one that howls is the one that got hurt..

"Do I need a lawyer?"

Yep, if you have to ask that question you might want to retain one.

Or how about the ones that say I almost killed a patient-do you think I will be reprimanded? or something along the same line.
