What general discussion topic on allnurses do you get the most annoyed at?

For example: My pet-peeve is the "I hate working the floor. What cushy nursing jobs are there that do not require any real work?"

How would you like to respond to these topics?

For example: I would like to respond "Quit being lazy, put your time in, and develop into a stronger nurse before venturing out."

Without being specific enough to identify anyone, please contribute with your thoughts about topics that annoy you the most.

Please do not insult, demean, or disparage anyone. After all- at allnurses we are allfriends.

How about these:

I applied for a job, they didn't hire me. Why didn't they hire me? I passed NCLEX 3 whole days ago...will I ever find a job? I think I am giving up!

I worked my whole shift on my first ever job and I hated it, I hated night shift, I hated the people, they are never going to give me enough training, so I want to quit.

This isn't really a homework question-can you do my homework for me?

I got caught cheating, but I wasn't cheating, they just thought I was cheating, and it was just my phone/tablet/diary that I got out of my locker. How can I make them give me a license cuz I didn't do anything wrong.

I know you already told about 45 million people, but I'm special so please tell me if the PVT trick works!

And the best:

It was just a little felony, why cant I get a license?

I can't believe they won't let me smoke pot and work. Geeeezzz, it is better than drinking alcohol. It's all

legal, so it's okay, right?

"Nurses are supposed to be compassionate! I would never want any of you taking care of my family!"

"When I become a nurse, I know I would never [insert anything at all here]."

Aw man... SubSippi beat me to that one! What a bully!

Okay I'm sorry but I could NOT resist putting this here:

Not be be rude but its comments like this that make me think people on here have a superiority complex and like to think of themselves as a step above each other because they have XYZ or can do XYZ better than someone else. What happened to putting yourselves in other people shoes and showing compassion like you do for your patients. If it was you in the struggling person shoes you wouldn't want someone to have such an abrasive attitude " oh step aside you can't take it again."

Like I said the person should have to take remedial classes... But if it took 10 times, who cares, as long as they eventually GOT it. It took look longer but iy finally clicked and they showed at that point they did have the skills.

My aunt failed multiple times but finally passed and she's one of the beat nurses I know!

It's like she read this thread and is punking the board, it's so spot on!

My god, I read so many of those original "annoying" posts. I keep going, yep I know which post they talking about.

Sweet, I made the list!

Mine is "I'm new to night shift. Can you give me some tips?"

Let me introduce you to a nifty little function called the "search." It's kind of amazing.

Kind of like when they want information about something. You wonder if they know about Google.

."

And quite frankly my dear, with your attitude, as a nurse, I would greatly prefer not to care for your family nor put up with your and your attitudes and behavior

All of the above, and...

"My patient is on his deathbed with Stage IV (insert type of) cancer, mets to the bone, moaning in pain, and he keeps asking for pain medicine! I mean, I gave him his Tylenol 5 hours ago! How do you deal with these drug seekers, doesn't he know he will get addicted to drugs???"

I feel like I've seen several of these in the last 6 months or so, and it makes me want reach through the computer screen and throttle the poster. I seriously cannot deal with nurses who have NO understanding of chronic vs. acute pain, addiction vs. tolerance, etc. Wish to God no one had to suffer through such substandard care.

"I'm being bullied because I was turned down for a job."

"I'm being discriminated against because I have a BSN and people with only ADN's are getting jobs before me"

On a resume: keywords like "compassionate" and "caring" -- Like there is some scale out there rating people on compassion and caring and the highest ranking should have an advantage getting a job.

Remember those threads like "Things I Wish I Could Tell My Patients.....And Get Away With It?"? This thread reminds me how I've often considered starting one like this: "Things I Wish I Could Say to Other AN Posters.....And Get Avoid That Pesky Lock".

It would include many of the gems mentioned here, like how No, we can't tell if you passed your NCLEX by the number of alternate types you had. Or yes, amazingly people have managed to get through nursing school while raising children. Did you think you'd be the first to attempt this feat?

Also, I sometimes I really wish there were quizzes one had to pass before posting in some areas. You know, before posting in the NCLEX board, you'd be require to read one of the very informative posts from RNsRWe regarding the PVT, and then take (and pass) a quiz on how to properly use the PVT. Another general reading selection and quiz on how to use the search function....you know, maybe it would decrease some of our least fave topics. Lots of other topics might benefit as well. Just a thought..... :)
