I'm currently a 16 year old nursing student at Palm beach state college and I was just curious to know what others have done with their first RN/ BSN paycheck .
My first RN paycheck (June 2010) was actually less than my last LPN paycheck (May 2010). I was an LVN for approx. four years before earning the RN license. It was dispiriting to start as a new grad RN after having worked as an experienced LVN.
My first RN paycheck was used to pay the student loans, mortgage, car payment, electricity bill, water/sewage & trash bill, and buy groceries.
My first check went towards savings for a house and I spent a little to buy stuff for work i.e.:new scrubs, new shoes, and new stethoscope. I still live with my parents and plan to until I have enough saved for my first home and my school loans paid. I found that I do tend to spend more for stuff I want now since I'm not counting change as much. Usually each paycheck I reward myself with a little something such as a new outfit.
I bought a Louis Vuitton bag. My husband made me return it. 😜 I'm glad he did, but I saved a little at a time and bought it later after the Bills were paid.
Omgosh! I bought a LV handbag and never told my husband how much i paid for it.
Just starting my pre reqs for nursing school, but I was lucky that my first job out of HS was a great paying one at a major transportation agency. I, too, bought an LV bag with my first paycheck. (And I'm a guy) Maybe we should start and FB group lol.
