I'm currently a 16 year old nursing student at Palm beach state college and I was just curious to know what others have done with their first RN/ BSN paycheck .
Thank you so much , every since I was a little girl I've always wanted to be a nurse it practically runs in the family, my aunt was a travel nurse(BSN) . My other aunt is a RN and my mom is a Nurse also . I love helping people and just thinking about the lives that I will help makes me motivated to get it done . I looked at it in a way whereas the sooner Im done with nursing school the sooner I can save lives.
OP, you're awesome!
I paid rent with mine. That was a joyful expense because my husband and I basically lived apart my last semester of nursing school; he hadn't been able to find a job in our area and had to go to the nearest metro area. (His BS degree was in Finance, and didn't get *any* relevant job until he'd gotten his MBA.) He came home on weekends and stayed at Extended Stay America during the week. Once I didn't have NS tying me down, our daughter and I joined him. :)
And then we took our toddler out for ice cream.
I was so used to living off of what I had been making that when I got my first RN check, I took the difference and put it in my savings account. I've done it every paycheck since I started getting nurses pay (which has just been since January:)). Not very exciting but it will be there if I need it!
My first paycheck was only for 1 week because of how the pay period fell when I started. I just remember laughing in relief because my loan money I lived on in school was just about gone (someone was looking out for me when I took out that extra little bit of money for "just in case" ), and I knew I'd have enough to make my car payment and eat for the next 2 weeks.
My first full check....probably bills/scrubs....even 8 months later in still stuck on poor student mindset and have a hard time splurging.

Made a stank face because after 15 years as an LPN the bump was negligible
