first RN paycheck?

Published

I'm currently a 16 year old nursing student at Palm beach state college and I was just curious to know what others have done with their first RN/ BSN paycheck .

Specializes in Med nurse in med-surg., float, HH, and PDN.
My first paycheck was only for 1 week because of how the pay period fell when I started. I just remember laughing in relief because my loan money I lived on in school was just about gone (someone was looking out for me when I took out that extra little bit of money for "just in case" ), and I knew I'd have enough to make my car payment and eat for the next 2 weeks.

My first full check....probably bills/scrubs....even 8 months later in still stuck on poor student mindset and have a hard time splurging.

Probably a good idea to stay that way for a while, 'cause ya never know!

Well I got my first paycheck yesterday.... It was a really good one!! I deposited in my bank (because direct deposit wasn't activated yet as new employee)... I was toooooo tired to spend any!!! 12 hour shifts. Lol. But I plan on making up for that this weekend ;-)

I put my first check and every one since I started in February right into my savings account. A little over cautious perhaps, but being a new nurse making mistakes along the way, I feel the need to save every penny until I get past my 90 day probationary period.
