Do you raid the patient fridge?

Time to 'fess up ladies and gents. :clown: Who here raids the patient fridge, and if so, what is your fav? Are you guilty of jello diversion? Or, is cookie addiction your weakness? Do you limit yourself to graham crackers and milk or do you go for the hard stuff?

This is an anonymous online forum, time to spill yer guts...

As for me, I used to be a weakling for jello. I like red jello, but my favorite is orange. I'm now in recovery from that addiction.

Now I'll have an occasional mini box of wheaties, and an occasional cookie if they aren't too soft. Graham crackers and milk make a quick snack when my blood sugar gets a little low from skipping a meal.

When I worked nights at my former job I was thinking of assembling a small recipe book from patient fridge items. One of my staples then was a microwave grilled cheese sandwich.

I usually grab a Rice Krispie Treat and a few cheese crackers to get me through. Along with a glass of cranbery juice or lemonade it's a pretty good time! LOL!

Rice Krispie Treats and Lemonade?? You lucky dog---They need to put that in the recruiting section----I would take that job over a green jello and grape juice fridge anyday!

I wait till the end of the shift and take a sandwich home if no one else eats it. They throw them away and I hate seeing food wasted. Got down to the end of nursing school and had no money for groceries

I remember Junket, Oramar. Strawberry was my fav. Haven't seen it in many years. I used to enjoy broken-up grahams w/ milk poured over, eat w/ a spoon.....

yes i do... we have tons of pudding and peanut butter , in the morning i make peanut butter crackers and milk.... our patients come and go so fast it's not like it's the patients personal food with their names on it.... we call it a nourishment room ... our job has to have some perks

Not much good in our pt fridge.... but the docs fridge!!!! paradise. Water, oreos, rice krispie treats, pepsi products ... good stuff.! the pt fridge is usually applesauce and diet jello. but I have been known to 'accidently' find a chocolate milk!

cranberry juice, diet coke (mini size), cookies

I am jealous of some of your hospitals! Our hospital is dead broke and we have very little in our patient kitchen.

I rarely take anything but I at times need to suck down a grape juice or apple juice when I become hypoglycemic.

Specializes in medicine and psychiatry.

Only if I am having a hypoglycemic attack. Milk and peanut butter is great for that. Otherwise, there is'nt a whole lot that interests me.

Specializes in Telemetry & Obs.

My fav used to be cranberry juice until the unit stopped stocking it (telemetry).

I have been known to snitch a sandwich or some crackers and cheddar cheese...yummm.

Peanut butter and grahams are a given!!

You know, I've always been confused about the NO cranberry products while the patient is on Coumadin thing....the "cranberry juice" we serve has very little ACTUAL cranberry even in it....

I too have raided the fridge, esp. when my sugars drop. I don't have time to run and go buy something from the cafeteria when that happens!

orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream mixed together make one heck of a cremesicle milkshake. or so i've heard.
